Yep. It looks like this:

and I have a copy sitting in my collection right now.

It's not that great, but it is really cheap. You should pick it up if you have the chance.

Konami Arcade Classics
Namco Museum 1 through 5

N²O
Nanotek Warrior
(shooter) Starfighter Sanvein*
Thunder Force V Perfect System

*The 'shooter' and 'puzzle' on these technically isn't part of the title. It is just a genre label.

Loadtimes? I've played the Arcade version and it's on my Saturn wishlist. But the PS1 versions tend to be cheaper than their Saturn cousins. That's why I got Thunder Force V. I'll be picking up Gekeoh over Shienryu.

Any other Psikyo shmups on PS1 I don't know about?

I know. I know. The case sure makes it seem that way, however...

I play it on my PS2 set to faster loading, and I do not have any complaints about the load time (i.e., the load times are not memorably bad).

Not too many Psikyo shmups were released in the U.S. for the PS1, and I think that we have listed all of them here.

EDIT: Also...are we only counting 2D shmups? If we are counting rail shooters/tunnel shooters, then there are going to be a lot more (i.e., Omega Boost, Tempest X3, Vanark, etc.)

is In The Hunt technically a shmup? I always considered it a run and gun as its pretty much metal slug but with submarines as there is no forced scrolling in it.

It strides the line. You get the vertical level which keeps you moving, but it isn't auto scroll. Of course Run and Gun and Platformers also have 'stay out of the lava/water' levels and Metal Slug has the tower muncher level.

I'll check it out with Strikers. Again, the Saturns versions are pricey so if they're passable, then I'll skip the saturn versions in favor of their cheaper PSX counterparts.

I wouldn't count those but they're also something i'm interested in to see if the PSX ever came close to the greatness of Panzer Dragoon Zwei.

Personally I count it as a shmup but it's on the cusp.

Viewpoint, it has a really good Techno soundtrack.. I have a copy if your looking.

Edit: If you dont have it, Einhander must be the first one to get.
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.
