Well, the Youtube description reads "Let's take a look at some popular games and how they represent or differ from the arcade originals!" which would imply that that the home versions are derived from the arcade ones. And that not being the case with Ninja Gaiden was all my point was about. Especially in a case where all the other games mentioned in the video are indeed ports, I thought it would be a good and interesting bit of knowledge to put forth. Many people still think it was meant to be a port, after all.

There's also the line "I'd much rather play this than the arcade version and I'm very glad they changed it. I think Tecmo knew the arcade version was a turd." which would again imply that the NES version is derived from the arcade version.

Just because a video's "just having a fun time" and not a serious examination of the subject matter doesn't mean it can't be backed by facts. I hope you don't consider accurate information to be "snobby elitism". My comment was certainly not meant as such.

If I wanted to get into "snobby elitism" I'd complain how it was pronounced "gay-den" one time in the video. ;)

I could be wrong, but I think she was talking about Luke's comment, which indeed has an air of snobbery to it.

I don't see how. The arcade WAS the original Ninja Gaiden. The home game shares the same name. We're looking at the differences and similarities (of which there are basically none in this case) between the two.

Again I don't see how. He said "I'm very glad they changed it" which basically establishes that it's a completely different game made because the arcade version was teh suxorz.

E-SWAT is also not a port of the arcade. It plays similarly, but the majority of the enemies and all of the stages, weapons and music are different. But nobody complained about this the way you guys did with Ninja Gaiden. Why not?

This is getting into semantics. One of the definitions for the noun "original" is "a primary form or type from which varieties are derived" or "the first and genuine form of something, from which others are derived" (dictionary.com)

Likewise with "I'm very glad they changed it", it can imply the game went from form A into form B. Tecmo didn't put out the arcade game, go "Hmm, we need a home version of this" and then develop the NES game, but the two games were developed side by side by different teams with different visions from the very start and were released only a month or two apart. If the sentence had been something like "I'd much rather play this than the arcade version and I'm very glad it's different" I wouldn't have picked up on it.

Let's just go with "The way the matter was presented lead me to believe you meant this thing when you meant the other thing" and call it a day, how about it?

Wow. People will nitpick over anything. These guys take time out of their lives to make these videos for people like us to watch. The least we could do is not act like an ass when they make a slight mistake.

Another stellar show guys.

For the record, I love the master system version of Ninja Gaiden. I want to get the pc-engine version as well, but after seeing it in action here for the first time, Dave's right, the background scrolling is jacked up. I still want it, but man that looks weird.

By the way, I appreciate the fact that there is now an episode guide for the show. It was interesting to read the notes for each episode.

LOL, wow... does it matter, really? (about the whole Ninja Gaiden thing?) Would it be better if they took it out of the episode? I'm glad it's there as it's interesting.

Anyway the episode is awesome guys. Can't wait to see what you compare next with the arcade versus console topic.
