Well, the Youtube description reads "Let's take a look at some popular games and how they represent or differ from the arcade originals!" which would imply that that the home versions are derived from the arcade ones. And that not being the case with Ninja Gaiden was all my point was about. Especially in a case where all the other games mentioned in the video are indeed ports, I thought it would be a good and interesting bit of knowledge to put forth. Many people still think it was meant to be a port, after all.Redifer wrote:Who said it was a port? Did you guys even watch the show?
There's also the line "I'd much rather play this than the arcade version and I'm very glad they changed it. I think Tecmo knew the arcade version was a turd." which would again imply that the NES version is derived from the arcade version.
Just because a video's "just having a fun time" and not a serious examination of the subject matter doesn't mean it can't be backed by facts. I hope you don't consider accurate information to be "snobby elitism". My comment was certainly not meant as such.irixith wrote:I'm "mystified" about why the air of snobby elitism comes to the surface whenever someone doesn't know minute detail about a game or series. It looks like these guys were just having a fun time comparing home versions to their arcade counterparts, not offering a history lesson.
If I wanted to get into "snobby elitism" I'd complain how it was pronounced "gay-den" one time in the video.
