Fire Emblem Awakening: The thread of the game

When I was in GameStop on Saturday they sold the open "new" copy they had. Said they couldn't keep them stocked for more than a day. The one associate said there was a manufacturing error - with a first batch being defective or something so they're slowly catching up as more are made and shipped out. I would think I would have read that elsewhere though.

Pretty sure he's completely full of shit.

Is this game still difficult to find though? I haven't noticed any copies in the Gamestops around my area.

I've made it a rule to buy Fire Emblem games on release because they almost never drop in price. I'd rather pick up a brand new copy of the game than hunt down a used one from Gamestop (cart only ) or some other place.

Also, I'd expect Etrian Odyssey IV to hold its value as well. It suffers from being a niche game on a handheld device with the Atlus logo on it.

Oh yeah. Definitely pick up EOIV now if you think you want to play it. You might get lucky and have Atlus do a reprint down the road, but I wouldn't risk it.

I really wouldn't put it past Nintendo to artificially create a shortage.
Heck, they've started to wean their consumers off physical games by providing more incentives like giving away more Club Nintendo points with digital game purchases.

There really isn't a reason to make a lot of these games when they don't fly off the shelves.

That's actually part of the problem with the shortage. When the company goes and makes an initial print of games and the title is based off of an existing franchise, they base the amount of copies off sales of prior titles. I don't think Nintendo expected FE Awakening to sell THIS well

So a month or so I finally got a phyisical copy of this game for $46 on eBay.

Maybe. Atlus just reprinted all three prior titles in the series. Most of the Megaten stuff has all been reprinted too. DDS original print bundle w/ slip still goes for a decent bit. Radiant Historia is due for a reprint this month too, fwiw....albeit without Yoko Shimomura's soundtrack. There's something special about those original runs, imo.

Enjoy it. It's already my GOTY. I don't think anything will top it for quite a long while (IMO).
