Well the thing is, it was never uninstalled in the first place...

I actually played through it the first several times through this version, but I absolutely cannot go back to it at all after playing on the PC though. Trust me I don't have favorites for FPS's on consoles or PC and it's more dependable on the game for me, but yeah. The framerate, resolution, the controls (managing an inventory system, etc), saving, loading, etc, are just vastly superior on the PC version. I think the biggest thing is simply this, the first stage/map in the game, Liberty Island, is one seamless large map on the PC version. This level is broken up into about 4-5 chunks in the PS2 version, so there's loading screens everywhere and it's like this well throughout the PS2 release with all the maps.

The PS2 version DOES have slightly improved character models and brand new CGI cutscenes for the intro and endings though, but at this point you could just youtube them. That's about all it has over the PC release. It also manually inputs door passwords when you've found the data/keycards in game though, whereas on the PC you have to check your notes and manually input them, which feels a tiny bit more immersive I guess, lol.

Play whatever you want and if you go in new with the PS2 version you can maybe still appreciate it, but yeah. No comparison for me anymore, haha.

The sad news is that too bad the Invisible War / Thief Deadly Shadows engine sucks so much, it's got loading screens around every corner regardless of what platform you're on. But those games are another discussion... haha.

But yeah definitely one thing I enjoyed about Human Revolution, yay for big maps again.

I played Invisible War for all of 30-60 minutes, then washed my hands of it and swore off it. It just didn't feel like the first game at all.

It's alright, I've beaten it a few times and replayed it after Human Revolution came out (back to back I'd easily say HR is way better, 3x longer too). I think lead designer Harvey Smith himself said it best though in some of their retrospectives looking back on it, it's like they turned it into the Jetsons. lol, the worst part is how it ends up tying into the first game so much, but it's silly enough to pass off as fanfiction almost and so it's kind of forgettable anyways.

Thief 3 was actually pretty awesome in my book, not nearly as good as the first 2, and it has story issues too later on... but definitely a better sequel than Invisible War was to Deus Ex.

Play it on PC, for starters. DE on consoles is just wrong, I'm sorry. I actually bought the PS3 version of HR first, played it for 30 minutes, and went "this is an obviously excellent game, but I'm getting a gimpy look at it here." I waited a year until my PC was capable, so my initial playthrough could be the definitive experience.

TBH, I enjoyed IW but for the life of me I can't recall the storyline anymore. I remember characters, but not what they were fighting for.

Graphics aren't as good
Load times up the ass. There are literally zones in the PS2 version where you step through a door and you'll get a loading screen for 30 seconds. And when you realize that this isn't where you need to go and turn back again, the game will load another good 30 seconds.
Saving+loading (which you'll be doing a lot) takes a lot of time
The unique health system has been removed
You don't input passwords manually via keyboard (whether it's a good or bad thing depends on you though)
Inventory management sucks
Using abilities is cumbersome

Having played both versions, I dont see any reason to play the inferioir port of one of the best games of all time.

Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Thanks, guys. Based on what you wrote, it does not appear that the PS2 version lacks any of the PC versions features (but that it is kind of a pain to play). I think I will start with it, and if I cannot tolerate the load times, then I will look into picking up the PC version.

No per-body-part health. (->The unique healthsystem has been removed)
No laser sight upgrades.
No quick toolbelt.
Can't use augs individually
Slot, not grid, based inventory. The only real limit here is that you can only carry four firearms (excluding ps20). All melee weapons can be carried at the same time, all food types, grenades etc.
Cannot manually enter keycodes and passwords, they are given when reading emails/datacubes. Sometimes this seems to been accidentally left out. Can select which one to use when using a computer/atm. Paul's datacube states the code '4321' instead of to "count back from 4". Maggie Chow's new password ('insurgent') is explicitly noted. JC automatically 'guesses' the last digit of the blue fusion reactor code.
This means Alex' login and the keycode to his cupboard can't be deduced.
No explicit nano key ring, locked doors can be opened the normal way if a key has been found.
No conversation log.
No ammo list, which means descriptions can't be read for ammo types that can't be switched out with others / for which the weapon hasn't been found.
No 'real name' and skin color options.

I played it (Invisible War) on a PC that I had just upgraded years back. It was a 2004 model with a 2.1ghz single core CPU, and I gave it 2GB of RAM, a new 310W PSU and a 128MB AGP8x Geforce FX5500 GPU. It ran terribly slow for a game from 2003. Didn't quite understand why. That sort of detracted me from the whole experience since the original ran so amazing on the exact same hardware. Maybe if I get the time I'll give IW another shot.

IW looks a heck of a lot better than the original, that's why it needed such stronger hardware. I wouldn't recommend playing it with a processor weaker than 3.0 GHZ and a 256 MB video card.

That was about 5 years ago I did that. I've got a much powerful desktop now. That's where I'd have to try it next.
