When it came out, it simply took everything great about the SNES game, made it better, and made it four player. DKR did the same and added more gametypes, but it was long after MK64 already became engrained in everyone as the go to kart racer (six months in the USA). Also, everyone knows Mario, none gamers dont know who Diddy Kong is.lisalover1 wrote:I don't understand why 64 is everyone's favorite. It never seemed like anything special, the tracks were forgettable, and Diddy Kong Racing absolutely blows it out of the water. What am I missing?
Personally, MK64 is one of the few games I have never had an issue with getting others to play. It just has a good balance. And personally, I found the battle mode in DKR lacking - correct me if I am wrong but there was no random weapon pickups, meaning red balloons were always rockets, etc.
