Yep, grabbed the Xbox version.

HOLY SHIT. This is great. I've never had a videogame make me feel that strongly. (Honestly. Part of it was connecting with characters. Ken seems so much like my dad, right down to the hairstyle...) It was great, and I will be picking this up on disc first chance I get. Though, I did feel like I was going with the flow when I saw the results at the end...

I finished episode 1 on PC today. I started playing on a whim and was surprised to see that I ended up playing through the whole thing. It was good, though much of the story was zombie movie cliches and covered similar ground as the comic book. It was kind of interesting talking to some characters from the actual comic book in the game, especially given what I know about them having read all the current issues. This game predates most of the comic book's events. One thing I'll say about episode 1
Sorry Doug, I guess I'm just not a bros before hoes kind of guy. Given the choice between a nice guy and a nice girl...who also happens to be kind of hot - the choice is obvious.

LOL, I made the same choice for the same reason.

It only gets better!!! You have to play through the rest of Season 1. I really enjoyed this game more than I could have ever expected.

I played a bit more tonight, then took a break as I was starting to get frustrated with some stuff in episode 2
I hate the way they manipulate you by having Clementine magically pop up out of nowhere if you choose to kill Danny and gasp in horror. I'm really getting kind of tired of every choice based video game out there being so preachy about not killing. The guy's a psycho and murderer. He dies. Simple choice, but now the game goes and makes me feel like I made this horrible choice that I'm going to regret later

What really made me stop playing...for now anyway, is that stupid standoff with the crazy, cannibalistic mom who has Kenny's wife hostage. After getting shot and killed three times I got pretty tired of the game not cluing me in on what I'm supposed to do. Ever the bane of PC adventure games

I have had so many people come back to the Gamestop where I work to return this game.

Normally we do not take back new games that have been opened, but we have been making exceptions for them because of how bad the disc version of the game is.

Good thing I got it on Steam I guess, though I did notice the game running real choppy when I started episode 1. I didn't have any issues once I set the graphics to low though

So I finished episode 2
Fuck Kenny, that guy is a murdering, self centered, excuse making, cowardly asshole who accepts no responsibility for his actions. You don't smash a guy's head in unless you know without a damn, shadow of a doubt that he is already dead. Also, what the fuck was he so paranoid about? If Larry was dead and turned, BIG FREAKING DEAL! Like three tough adults couldn't take down ONE dumb, slow, zombie. Hell if Larry turned, they could have killed him before he even got off the ground. Kenny had ZERO good reasons for smashing Larry's head in, and I say that as a player who didn't even like Larry. Oh, and Kenny didn't lift a finger when I was fighting for my life in the barn either. Thanks Lilly, for saving my ass when that jackass chose to sit back and watch me die. I hope something takes a good bite out of Kenny in the coming episodes. He's basically this game's version of a certain asshole from the first two seasons of the Walking Dead TV show.

That fight at the end of the episode pissed me off. Can you give me more than half a damn second to actually hit a button to hit the guy you stupid designers? Anyway, I let that dude live after seeing Clementine's shocked reaction to me killing his brother earlier. Got to think about how my actions affect the kid now. I certainly wasn't going to needlessly execute him with the whole group starting at us and clearly seeing that he wasn't a thread to me anymore anyway. That certainly wouldn't look good. I told Clementine later never to kill unless she has too and that I made a mistake killing Danny (even though I think he had it coming to him). I certainly don't want her developing a personality like Kenny's by seeing my guy revel in violence. I chose not to take the stuff out of the car too. It's weird, I probably WOULD have ransacked the car with everyone else if Clementine wasn't there. That kid makes me think twice about my actions now. She's clearly the conscience of this story, hard to come by in a post zombie apocalypse.

Random observation, it's amazing how much more worn and haggard Lilly looks compared to Carlie, despite the fact that Carlie is in fact older than her. Lilly's been through some serious shit.

Final thoughts:

http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 31#p715431

To elaborate
I think the ending sucked, not because it wasn't well executed. Two reasons I hated it:

1. It was predictable.
2. What a miserable way to end things after all the work I did
3. Ultimately, your choices don't matter. Every major event is unaffected by them
