Turn the console on then swap the battery. Should keep your saves IIRC.

Thanks, I went to the store and picked up a 2 pack of batteries and swapped one out with the console on, and saves were still intact after restarting the system

Edit:
So I want to say how awesome PDS is so far. I am not a big RPG person, I have always wanted to get into them, but could never quite get hooked. There have been a couple of exceptions, Paper Mario on N64 was great and I played it through, and I recently played Chrono Trigger on the DS and loved it. Now I have just finished disc 1 of PDS and am loving it, the battle system is great! I havent even gotten the story fully rolling yet and I cant wait to get the next disc burned and playing!

I'm not huge into rpg's either but PDS is one of a kind! Like you said the battle system is sick! Everything from the art, the music, the story, and gameplay is top notch. I usually play it atleast once a year. I have a couple minor gripes but they are easily overshadowed by the pure awesomness that is PDS. It also really shown what the Saturn was capable of.

D on Saturn is a must, Alberts Odyssey as well. Also Nights Into Dreams is a great Saturn classic. If at all possible stay away from the 3D controller lol. Take theses recommendations into consideration, after all I am the TheSegaSaturnGuy lol.
I am buying all Saturn games, PM me with your offerings and I will let you know if I need the game or not! (Everything must be CIB)

Currently trying to knock off all the sports games, would like to get them <$5 each! Of course if you would like to donate them I will gladly pay the shipping! :)

A sort of niche import that became one of my most favorite games on the Saturn is Asuka 120% Burning Fest. Limited Edition. It is a surprisingly well made 2D fighting game with a pretty solid engine, in which the entire character roster consists of anime Japanese school girls.

Here is a low quality gameplay video:

Very fun game to play with friends.

I also call BS on TheSegaSaturnGuy. The 3D controller is awesome.

I looooved the 3d controller for NiGHTS. Granted it was practically built just for that game but I really enjoyed the analog stick style for that gameplay. That being said I ONLY use it for NiGHTS. Just too bulky and uncomfortable for most other games IMO especially when your other option is the hands down best gaming controller ever made.

3D pad is actually great with PDS; Burning Rangers, Sonic R, Panzer Dragoon/Zwei. The list of games that work well with the 3D bad is actually fairly extensive. I can kind of understand the flack the DC controller gets for it's stick/d-pad, but the Saturn 3D pad doesn't have those issues, so I don't get the complaining about it.
