Gramme is the french word for "gram" (weight unit), but I don't think that is why it is in the name.jfrost wrote:I never got Infogrames' name. What's a grame?
Telegram in french is telegramme, so it may be they borrowed from that to make a new word (actually infogram is an actual word, so...)
The lack of the 2nd m messes most of these up though.

See, this is God paying them back for what they did to E.T. in the 80's...every few decades, Atari must file for bankruptcy and start fresh...The Atari Curse will never be lifted!

A Spanish TV channel covered the issues by showing pictures of Galaxian and a 3D Mortal Kombat.

Wikipedia has it -jfrost wrote:I never got Infogrames' name. What's a grame?
They used a mix-and-match computer program to suggest names, one of which was "Infogramme": a portmanteau of the French words "informatique" (information technology) and "programme" (a computer program). The final choice, "Infogrames", was a slightly modified version of that suggestion.
So Information Technology Program(me)s. NOT the French word for Atari
