Yeah it was that issue where they talk about 100 games coming eventually to the DC or something like that. Definitley a later issue if not the last.

What was on the cover?

Oh man your making me think now... It will say something on the front about like showcases 100 games coming to DC. Thru out the mag they have like a ticker at the bottom of every page with a screen shots and descriptions of a game.

"able to compete"? Pfft. NBA 2K series blows away anything EA tried to do for basketball.
this is true, which is a shame that sega sold off the franchise and development house back in 2005. so we really can't count the 2K series as an all-encompassing "win" for sega since the DC games.

I was undervaluing my statement haha. I certainly didn't want to say, the 2K series is without a doubt the best sports series to ever hit consoles. That's incredulous, I was just testing the waters.

However, it's a shame that they sold off the franchise. I don't think Take-two is doing much with it.

MrPopo wrote:Dave raises a good point. I've found that most of Sega's published 3rd party games have been really fun. They might not have the same level of polish as Nintendo 1st party games, but I haven't been disappointed by any of them. It's when they've done their own development that it feels like it falls flat. Plus, I'd really just wish they'd get together with Camelot and have them make some Shining Force games again.
I agree with this and the post right after.. I think in conclusion, Sega is a very good company capable of developing top notch games as you see with Vanquish, VC etc.. But there are many faults in their big IPs combined with known incidents within the company(Bernie Stolar Saturn fiasco, 32X, Dreamcast's short life span, The change within the Sonic franchise) that allows people, including dedicated fans to the brand name to become very skeptical..

I know some people are irritated by this thread, but I honestly think it's a good read for me... You get some different perspectives on Sega and a brief summation of their time from the 4th gen to 6th gen when they finally went under in the console industry.. I can honestly say that I wish they were still making consoles... Love them or hate them, some of the IPs on them were the greatest ever...

I think by the time Bernie was brought in Sega knew the Saturn was effectively dead at that point anyway. His decisions with it were probably made with the idea of making that death as painless as possible.

For all the crap thrown at Bernie over the Saturn stuff though, he did everything right with the Dreamcast. It doesn't take an analyst to notice how much better that console did than the Saturn, and personally I felt the marketing for the system was really memorable.

Sure, the DC died anyway, but I don't think there's much that anyone could've done to prevent that.
