I like Mystic Quest as my first pick, but you said nothing turn based. But I think with a 2nd player controller, during battles they could help out. (Dont hold me to it tho  )

Secret of Mana seems very fitting (3-playas).

Link to the past will probably captivate any kid.

How bout The Addams Family game, the one thats a Zelda clone seems decent?

While I'm at it I would throw Mario RPG out there, and Big Sky Troopers (ARPG) too.

Never played the Adams Family game - figure it'd be a platformer like the NES game, huh.

We're starting Mario RPG first to see if they like it, i'm sure they will of course, but i'm hoping they go with Soul Blazer.

Meanwhile, I had to do the proud dad thing and shoot a quick vid:

Oh yeah TMNT baby! I still jump around like that when I'm playing the right game and in the zone with my buds. Good times.

There are 3 addams family games for the snes 2 of them are platformers and one of 'em is an action/adventure/lite rpgish similair to Zelda. Honestly I get confused on which ones which so maybe check out a video to make sure you dont grab one of the platformers.

Addams Family Values is the action-RPG. I have it...I just haven't played it yet. If you are playing with the kids, I would probably go with The Secret of Mana. It may be a bit too long for the weekend, but three people can play it simultaneously. It may be a bit too long for just one weekend, however. (I don't recall it being much longer than LoZ: LttP, but I may be mistaken...)

LttP could be very memorable for them - I bet they want to stick with that one the longest, although I've never played Super Mario RPG to know how that one starts.

We started w/Mario RPG and they (and I) enjoyed that the turn-based battles at least had some additional player action / skill, that was cool.

Then we switched to Zelda LttP, and we never did make it to Soul Blazer. We got about 3 hours into Zelda last night and they are excited to pick back up today. They're warming up with Pieces and Nightmare Busters (brutally hard game), before diving into a long session.

I've updated the OP so this thread idea can be used and discussed a bit deeper.

As for Secret of Mana, I considered that, but I don't currently have a (working) multi-tap.

Also, does anyone know if the Secret of Mana 2 repros have 3-player support. I've read conflicting reports.
