so this comes out tomorrow and is getting very good reviews so far. I really keep going back and forth on this (as evidenced by changes in tone to my posts across the long history of this thread  )

Basically the excitement I had for this game (despite the aesthetic and character changes) dwindled a good deal when I played the demo at E3 and the combat felt slow, dragged on, and wasn't up to the standards of the poorer games in the series (2 and 4) let alone the best games in the series (3 and 1).

On the other hand, the glowing reviews indicate that there's a lot here to like and that in the release build the combat is very fluid and challenging. But maybe the reviewers aren't veterans of the series? I don't know.

I'm leaning towards just pikcing this up tomorrow anyway and giving it a go. I don't often buy games on release day. but I think I will make an exception with this one.

(I won't lie: I'm also lured in a bit by the fact that I can get RE6 - another mixed reception game - for $10 at Best Buy if I buy this at the same time  )

Yeah the BB deal is what is luring me as well. I normally don't buy a game at launch any more. Especially with the back log I have ...

I wish I could get excited for this, but after playing games like Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden 2 I have a hard time getting excited for DMC games. I think I played DMC 4 for all of half an hour and then never touched it again. At the moment, I'm a little more interested in Platinum's Anarchy Reigns.

It's a shame new Team Ninja screwed up the last Ninja Gaiden game. That was my series right there

Interested in hearing some impressions. This game is getting much better reviews than I expected.

I could say that about all Ninja Theory games. So I'll probably put more stock in the opinions of racketboy members

From a gameplay perspective, I thought Bayonetta was only marginally better than DMC4 and by no means a high mark for the genre. I've already enjoyed my first hour or so with DMC far more than I enjoyed that one. I can't speak to Ninja Gaiden - I can't get into that series as much.

Knowing something about games you play and having now played some of this, I think you should be excited for this one...

I'm watching on stream first hand and it looks awful.. Maybe it's great to play along I'm not sure, but I think I'm just going to focus my money towards a Ni No Kuni purchase with guide..

I just downloaded and played the demo of DmC on PSN and really enjoyed it. I didn't know what to expect since I've never played a Devil May Cry game before, but it was fun. Definitely want to pick it up now especially with all the positive reviews it has been getting.
