Devil May Cry from Ninja Theory
Devil May Cry from Ninja Theory
Anyone else excited? I know this got a lot of flak when it was announced. But I pretty much despised the original games, but now I am excited because it's Ninja Theory at the helm. I loved Enslaved. What does everyone else think?

I don't think Ninja Theory has the chops to pull off a Devil May Cry game, but maybe they'll prove me wrong. Nothing they have put out yet has been particularly impressive. I am surprised they got the job

Is this the upcoming Devil May Cry sequelboot that has the new Dante Model that everyone hates?
I have to agree with Gamerforlife. They only have three games (according to MobyGames) and the two that I've played (Kung Fu Chaos and Heavenly Sword) weren't very impressive.Gamerforlife wrote:I don't think Ninja Theory has the chops to pull off a Devil May Cry game, but maybe they'll prove me wrong.

Really? I thought the facial animation was second to none in Enslaved and the story and game were fun to boot. GotY 2010 for me. I also really enjoyed Heavenly Sword although it was too short. I never played Kung Fu Chaos.
What do you think about the images they've released of Dante's design? Did you like the original DMCs?

I have so many hopes and fears for this game. I am not digging the character art, Enslaved was buggy as hell from all I've read, and I really have been disappointed in the series and what Capcom has done with it ever since the dumbed down version of DMC3 was released. On the other hand, Heavenly Sword is better than DMC4, which is only slightly better than DMC 2. The wild inconsistency of this series kills me. DMC3 is one of my all time top five games, DMC1 would certainly rank in the top 20 or so, but 2 and 4 were so bad by comparison.

I did actually encounter a few bugs myself with Enslaved now that you mention it, mostly dealing with Trip. It still surprises me so much when people praise the game's story. I just don't see how anyone could feel anything positive for the main characters by the end of the game. Their actions are all shameful and pathetic. Trip is selfish and borderline psychotic, Monkey has no pride or ambition and Pigsy shows a murderous streak. And the epilogue.....dsheinem wrote:I have so many hopes and fears for this game. I thought DMC 3 was pretty badass, but I agree that DMC 4 didn't win me over. Personally though, I have always been much more proficient in the Ninja Gaiden games and don't consider myself a HUGE DMC fan, but Capcom has been so lame lately. It would be nice for them to put out SOMETHING badass. I don't think these are the guys to pull it off though. This is about as smart an idea as having Team Ninja do a Metroid game.....oh, wait a minute

Hmm, I only had an audio synching issue once, other than that smooth sailing. I played on the PS3 which I think had the least issues in that regard.Gamerforlife wrote: I did actually encounter a few bugs myself with Enslaved now that you mention it, mostly dealing with Trip. As far as the story, it shouldn't surprise you that some people liked it and you didn't. Does every movie you've seen have characters where you feel positive about their every action? The uncertainity about what they did at the end and how "grey" the actions of the main characters were, was what made the story resonate with me.
