I just got Geometry Wars: Galaxies for the Wii in the mail today. While the game looks like a lot of fun (I am new to the series), I've found it virtually unplayable with the Wiimote after an hour or so of trying. Now I am in the market for a classic controller, since the GC controller isn't supported by the game.
What SHMUP(s) are you playing right now?
I am in a love it/hate it relationship with Gradius V right now. I WILL beat this game without having to resort to free play!

R-Type Delta was really worth what I paid for it.
It's easily on my top 3 shmups now.
I can't decide if it's better than Einhander though.

If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.
Re:
You can make an account for the Japanese PSN and then buy a JP PSN prepaid card from ebay or ncsx.com, they've got a huge selection of SHMUPS and other PSX games on the JP PSN. Also, Mushihime-sama is JP only, but my PS3 is a JP launch unit so it's fully backwards compatible with JP PS2 games.bobbynewmarkiii wrote:Boootaay - I'm proper confused - you're in the UK, but downloaded R-type from the japanese PSN store - how is that possible, and also, how are u playing Mushime-sama - which I didn't think had a PAL release?

Finally got myself a copy of Mars Matrix (DC). It's amazing... and hard as a coffin nail.
On my good old Genesis, Bio Hazard Battle and Lightening Force are getting a lot of play.

Just hit on the idea of using MAME to play some of the Cave SHMUPs never to receive a console a release, can't beleive I didn't think of it before, d'oh
Anyways, today i've played EspRaDe, Dangun Feveron and Guwange - can't wait to get more involved with them, especially Guwange as I love the art style and setting, now to get my PS3 controller working with the PC :p
Re: What SHMUP(s) are you playing right now?
Guwange is awesome! It plays great on mame. I can't find a good ROM for EspRaDe or Dangun Feveron that works on mameOSX. Where you find yours?Bootaaay wrote:Just hit on the idea of using MAME to play some of the Cave SHMUPs never to receive a console a release, can't beleive I didn't think of it before, d'ohAnyways, today i've played EspRaDe, Dangun Feveron and Guwange - can't wait to get more involved with them, especially Guwange as I love the art style and setting, now to get my PS3 controller working with the PC :p
