Agree, the Gamecube Red B and Grey X buttons are oddly placed in comparison to the Playstation primary and secondary buttons. By redoing the traces inside the adapter, the two buttons could be solder modded. At least some Gamecube games can be reconfigured in the game setup menu. Other games already follow the face button direction placement layout, GC Midway Treasures Robotron for example.Lakster37 wrote:I already have the Cube Joybox by Mayflash which works great, but with one (very annoying) layout problem.
I could see how someone just passively trying to compare the two button layouts may come up with that button mapping, but for anyone who's actually played a Gamecube game, it makes absolutely no sense. The primary/accept button (GCN A/PS2 X) as well as the "top" auxiliary (GCN Y/PS2 Δ) are correct, but the other two are switched from what they should be. The secondary/decline button is GCN "B" and PS2 "O" while the GCN "X" and PS2 "□" are more of an auxiliary button.

Your video was not clear exactly which Playstation Face button correlates with which Gamecube Face Button. You mentioned GC B button as PS X, yet the icons that flash up in the video match to the same layout as the Cube Joybox. Could you list all the buttons out for the Game Elements adapter as I did for the Cube Joybox above?Satoshi_Matrix wrote:The answer is the Game Elements adapter, although good luck finding one in 2013.
Watch my review.

Thanks for posting, Looks the same layout as the Cube Joybox. Ah well, a simple solder retrace mod could fix primary and secondary button to match the Gamecube controller layout. Out of curiousity does an Arcade Stick emulate the analog sticks with the Game Elements adapter? Not the DPad but the Analog and C sticks of the Gamecube controller.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:Sure. As I think I indirectly said, it's like this, although good luck finding one of these adapters now.
Game Elements PS2 = GC = Xbox
X = A = A
Square = B = X
Triangle = Y = Y
O = X = B
It makes sense since the Gamecube primary buttons are A and B. This would correlate better in some games if matched to the Playstation primary buttons of X and O which the adapters do not.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:Wait a minute. I'm confused.
Is the point of this thread saying that Lakster37 wants the PS2 controller to be mapped like THIS?
PS2 = GC
X = A
Square = X
Triangle = Y
O = B
Is that he's saying? WTF?
No, of course not. Arcade sticks always are based off the dpad. Arcade sticks are digital controllers. Analog sticks are fundamentally the opposite of an arcade stick.CRTGAMER wrote: does an Arcade Stick emulate the analog sticks with the Game Elements adapter? As you'd expect, but I can't think of anything worth playing for Wii that you'd want to use either a GameCube or a PS2 controller with.CRTGAMER wrote:How do Gamecube controlled Wii games work out with the Game Elements? The pinnacle would be Wii Metal Slug which does not support a Classic Controller but does work with the Gamecube controllers and adapted PS1 and PS2 Arcade Sticks.
Yeah you could in theory hook that up to a GameCube, but that's a digital controller keep in mind.CRTGAMER wrote:If you happen to own the PS1 Flightstick, does it also work on that adapter? This allows over an additional 600 Gamecube games to work compared to just the 27 Playstation games
Actually with the Cube Joybox, my Blaze Twinshock which is digital DOES emulate the analog sticks of the Gamecube controller.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:No, of course not. I have PS1, PS2 4/5/Anthology/3D, GBA, and Wii versions of Metal Slug and enjoy them all. Well the PS2 3D version maybe not as much. I mentioned Wii Metal Slug since it does not offer Classic Controller support but does work with a Gamecube controller. With the right adapter at least there is an Arcade Stick option, handy if one only owns the Wii console.Satoshi_Matrix wrote:As you'd expect, but I can't think of anything worth playing for Wii that you'd want to use either a GameCube or a PS2 controller with.CRTGAMER wrote:How do Gamecube controlled Wii games work out with the Game Elements? The Wii build of Metal Slug Anthology is garbage. Do yourself a favor and get the PS2 version and rid yourself of the Wii version. The PS2 does not suffer from slowdown, bad control, or sound emulation issues like the Wii version. It wasn't rushed like the Wii build.
Actually it is Analog with a selectable emulated digital option. Click my Quote Link above for a look at some ANALOG games that work beautiful with a Playstion Flightstick. I can use the stick with Gamecube games that did not work on the identical PS2 version. Various flying type of GC games offer true analog mode with it, a very nice discovery! The best was getting Wii Skycrawlers to fly with the Sony Flightstick, made possible with the Cube Joybox!Satoshi_Matrix wrote:Yeah you could in theory hook that up to a GameCube, but that's a digital controller keep in mind.CRTGAMER wrote:If you happen to own the PS1 Flightstick, does it also work on that adapter?
