He probably means that he doesn't make it a point to buy them, I hope he really does not trash them. I know what he means though. I have cardboard boxes and I just worry about damage and the like, I keep the ones I have because they are sentimental to me. I will probably never buy any more unless they are the same price as cart only. They are to much to worry about if ya know what I mean.AppleQueso wrote:Yeah, throwing out cardboard boxes seems like a pretty bad idea, considering sometimes that cardboard is worth more than the cart itself.

I keep boxes if I happen to get them in a lot or if it's cheap or something, but I usually store them elsewhere.

I don't really care about consistency, but I'll take it if I can get it. Same goes for CIB carts.

Re: Consistency in Collecting
The answer for me on platform has been difficult. Typically I used to buy my games on 360 because that was where the majority of my friends were. However as time goes on, I play less and less online games and more solo so that no longer factors in. Also I really like that PS3 games can be played online for free if I want to, whereas my 360 demands a yearly Xbox Live subscription which I am less and less inclined to pay as time goes on. Also many games today come on several discs on 360 but only one blu-ray on PS3 which is kind of convenient. I do still try to keep games on the same platform so I can play them with the same controller. For example I bought Max Payne 3 on 360 because I have Max Payne 1 and 2 on the original Xbox and they are backward compatible with the 360 which would let me play the whole trilogy on one console. This comes into play even more on my 60GB PS3 which can play all three generation Playstation games on one console.

Don't worry, I haven't trashed any boxes as of late. Though unfortunately, in the N64 era my boxes fell to the wayside. They never felt like a true form of storage, especially when you consider the jewel cases and clamshells that came before. If I had them I would've kept them, but alas--they are gone now.
So, that being said, I do vow to donate any cardboard that I come across to the respectable members of the racketboy community.

Re: Consistency in Collecting
Initially, I threw the boxes away, but after reading this thread, if I happn to come across any cardboard for anything I acquire, I'll figure a better way of getting rid of it other than the recycle bin.
I figured that unless I had the game and everything else, the box wouldn't ever sell--had to be a package deal, and I never felt like holding onto the boxes, especially since I always had the intention of holding onto the games themselves.
I have a thing for minimalism and a small footprint for collecting. I have the system, game, and protective casing. That's all I need.
