How do you guys feel about being consistent in your collection? For example, I have Taito Legends for both Xbox and PS2, but Taito Legends 2 only for PS2. Seeing that the Xbox version of 2 is way more expensive and PAL, I'm leaning towards keeping the PS2 version of 2 but the Xbox version of 1. The Xbox version allows for up to 4 players on the 4player games, but if I keep the PS2 versions, I have consistency. However, the PS2 version also goes for more than the Xbox version, which means I could make a bit of profit.
What would you do/what do you do about consistency?
Consistency in Collecting
Re: Consistency in Collecting
Yeah I prefer to stay consistent when I can, in a way that I just have "sets" per single console kind of like you're talking about. I also like my PS2 way more than the Xbox/GC at this point, so there's been a few games I've bought for it even if I already owned it on the other systems. More recently I just decided to buy the Megaman collection on the PS2 despite having owned it on the GC for years, since I figured it'd look nicer being with the X collection and the other various Megaman PS2 games.
But yeah when there's like a series or something I prefer to have them in a row together on a single console.
I also tend to prefer most HD collections for the PS3, since a lot of those games were PS2 originally, it just makes more sense to me with the controller and all.

Re: Consistency in Collecting
I am way too impulsive to be consistent in any way, except for my need to own every single Shin Megami Tensei and Castlevania game in every single format available. Everything else is me just grabbing wildly and throwing my money at anything that strikes my interest.
Re: Consistency in Collecting
I always go for Sega when possible then Nintendo then PlayStation then Xbox. So that means my collection will not be consistent at all. Examples are Dino Crisis on Dreamcast and Dino Crisis 2 on PlayStation. Tomb Raider on Saturn then 2 & 3 on PlayStation, Last Revelation and Chronicles on Dreamcast and Legends on Gamecube. Yea I am weird. The only time I wanted a full set on one system was the Resident Evils on Gamecube although I still have my original Saturn version and plan to get the Dreamcast ones too. The only way I will ever touch PS and Xbox is if I can't get it else where.
Re: Consistency in Collecting
In the case of Taito Legends 2, the PS2 has 4 exclusive games, and so does the Xbox port. The PC port shares the same 4 exclusives as the latter. That might be worth your while to get despite consistency issues.
That is, only if you're interested in Bubble Symphony, Cadash, Pop N Pop & Rayforce

Re: Consistency in Collecting
Ah, thanks for that! I may splurge on TL2 for Xbox, then. That still doesn't solve my TL1 problem though.
Maybe I'll just keep both for the time being until the PS2 version is expensive enough to justify selling.
Still interesting to see what others do. I now realize that my aversion to the Saturn Tomb Raider is in part because I just want to keep the PS1 games and only the PS1 games all together. I know I do the same with Mortal Kombat and the SNES, too, even though MK1 on the Genesis is the funner version.

Re: Consistency in Collecting
I try to be consistent as well with games in a series.
I got all my Mass Effects on 360.
I also typically get my JRPGs on the PS3
Online/multiplayer games on 360.
As far as retro systems go, I dont mind owning the same game on multiple consoles.

Ah a funny one, I kind of do this too. I guess I instinctively just try to keep the Japanese console "more Japanese" or something, haha. I prefer From Software titles on the PS3, and other things like that.Jmustang1968 wrote:I also typically get my JRPGs on the PS3
Re: Consistency in Collecting
I like to buy Multi-Platform games for PS3, and FPS games for PC (because mouse and keyboard is the only way imo)
I dont have a 360 but if i did i would probably only use it for Gears of War and Halo games, oh and Forza, love me some racing.
That's about it really

Re: Consistency in Collecting
Not to get into a PS3 v. 360 debate, but why wouldn't you get multiplats on the 360? Also, not a fan of shmups?
