I've revamped this topic to reflect the fact that the 3DS is out.

Tales of Symphonia originally for GameCube.

Namco manages to squeeze out a full port of Tales of the Abyss for PS2 including all the voice actring cutscenes and everything present int the PS2 build, which is several times larger than Symphonia, so this would definitely be possible for them to do.

The 3DS needs more RPGs in general though.

Actually, there's already a "Tales of" game coming out.

They also have Kingdom Hearts, Heroes of Ruin and God knows how many others, inclduing retail and eShop.

What they need are more strategy games (especially RTS games, and defense games do NOT count), card battlers and FPSes.

I'd love to see a port or remake of VB Warioland on 3DS. I've always wanted to play this game, but I have never owned a virtual boy. The 3DS seems like the perfect patform for VB Warioland. Maybe this version could come in full color instead of the red/black that plagued virtual boy.

It's nice to dream.

What what? Details on that? Link? You're not talking about Tales of the Abyss are you?

Actually, yes. It is a port of Tales of the Abyss.

And there are plenty of Japan-exclusive DS Tales of games they could port to the 3DS and localize.

And here's a list of RPG's I found (source: Wikipedia), though it's only games that are either released in the USA or slated/announced for American release, and it's possibly incomplete:

* Heroes of Ruin (Action-RPG) (out now)
* Code of Princess (Action-RPG) (out now - retail and eShop)
* Adventure Time (Action-Adventure sidescroller) (out now - retail and eShop)
* Paper Mario: Sticker Star (JRPG) (out now - retail and eShop)
* Monster Hunter Tri (Action-RPG) (projected release March 2013)
* Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity (Roguelike) (projected release March 24, 2013)
* Etrian Odyssey 4 (Dungeon-Crawler) (projected release February 26, 2013)
* Fire Emblem: Awakening (Strategy-RPG) (projected release February 4, 2013)
* Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D (Pokemon-style) (projected release TBA, already out in Japan)
* Dragon Quest 7 (JRPG) (projected release TBA, sometime after JP release of February 7, 2013)
* Shin Megamin Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers (JRPG) (projected release Spring 2013)
* Anonymous Notes trilogy (Action-RPG) (DSiWare)
* Legends of Exidia (Action-RPG) (DSiWare)
* Zenonia (Action-RPG) (DSiWare)

But for some RPGs I want on the 3DS (orignal console in parenthesis):

* Doom and Destiny (XBLIG), though it was based on an engine that's not available on the 3DS
* Cthulhu Saves the World (XBLIG)
* Dragon Quest games that aren't also available on the DS (NES)
* Baten Kaitos (GC, but they could resurrect the cancelled BK:DS game)
* Mother Trilogy
* Shining Force Collection, with 3D remakes of the Genesis and GameGear games (Genesis, GG later Sega CD)
* Diablo spinoff (PC)
* Castlevania, in the style of the Metroidvania titles (PS1/Saturn, GBA, DS)
* Phantasy Star games (Genesis)

Other games I wanna see on the 3DS:

* Carmen Sandiego (the classic ones, not the crap titles they've been churning out since the late-late-'90s)
* Smash TV remake
* GTA clones
* Culdcept
* Popful Mail
* Snatcher
* new entry in Monster World franchise
* VB Wario Land
* Double Dragon
* RE 2 and 3 remakes
* Silent Hill
* Alone in the Dark
* SCUMM games
* card-battle games
