This game has virtually zero dialogue when playing it, also the english version has a japanese text option.

Even when you download the rom is doesn't specify versions, I am pretty sure there is only one version of the game, no matter the region. The only thing I could see being in japanese would be the sector names on the map, but I have a feeling they are probably still in english for the japanese release.

Either way the brief intro is pretty much all the dialogue/text you see in the entire game, so yeah. Not really necessary. As usual I'm sure the in-game text is probably English, or as others are saying there might just be one version of the game available everywhere.

As has been stated, the Japanese and English versions are identical. Just change it to English in the options.

Also the game doesn't tell you where to go like the later Metroid games. It's all up to your own intuition which is part of the magic (and a testament to its design).

Absolutely. Do not play this game with a guide, it totally ruins it imo. I think Super Metroid is a nice balance, as you still feel completely lost, but you aren't drawing your own map like in the first game (which is fun in its own kind of weird way)

I like how Metroid Prime (and I think 2 and 3 as well) gave you the option to simply turn off the hint system.

I like how the Prime trilogy was made by Gods.
