Last week's episode...wow. Can't believe what Rick and his crew did to that crazy mountain guy. There's no more excuses or justifications, they've crossed the line and are bad people. That guy didn't do anything wrong or threaten them and they invaded his house.

Also, I read further in the comic and things definitely are getting more disturbing than in the show. The show still is better on it's won merits, but, the comic is starting to show it's own.

Yeah, he's crazy and wouldn't shut up, but they could have just gagged him, covered his mouth, knocked him out, something other than feed him to zombies. Just because he's crazy doesn't mean it should be okay to sacrifice people. Does the same logic apply to the senile and mentally retarded?
The whole thing just seemed to come off as cold-blooded and callous to me.

The nut was already going to open the door. He seemed to have no clue the zombie apocalypse was happening. His days were already numbered and they did him a favor.

Re: The Walking Dead tv series
It's hard to feel bad about what they did given what a stupid moron that guy was. The rules are different in the zombie apocalypse. Survival of the fittest. Idiots are a liability and expendable. That sounds cold, but if some idiot is going to jeopardize the safety of the group, you kill him. If I've learned one thing from zombie horror stories, it's that stupid people have a nasty habit of getting not just themselves killed, but others as well. I didn't feel even remotely upset by what Michonne did. That dipshit brought it on himself. A moron like that is good for just one thing - zombie bait.
And you were taken aback by that scene, you really need to read the comic book some more. You'll see people do far worse in the name of survival and personal safety and the lines between good and evil and right and wrong are blurred on a regular basis.

I have the first 50 comics and havent read them yet, so my opinion is based on the characteristics of those in the show... with that being said.
I think that scene was important. We can debate if that guy should have died at that moment or not, but I don't think that has anything to do with the reason that scene was shown.
I think the purpose of that scene was to balance Rick back out. In this season he has become, shall I say, less caring and more of a cold hearted killer. The way in which that scene played out looks to me as if Michonne will balance Rick back out to being the cool, calm, Logical leader instead of someone who kills first.
This season is great and everything, no matter how small, has played a role in the larger story. Things that we may not understand or just saw for a moment will come back... like the bow and arrow girl. These writers are doing a great job of writing and more importantly pacing the story.

It's interesting that you have the first fifty issues, as I feel that represents one whole chapter of the comic book. The next fifty issues feel like the equivalent of a new season. In fact, the first fifty issues would take us up to just about where we are now in the show, though a lot of stuff has been changed or omitted in the show. It actually looks like they are really going in a different direction too with this Woodbury arc.
What you said about Michonne is interesting. I don't know how things will play out on the show, but there are some interesting character dynamics between her and Rick in the comic book and I wonder how much of that we're going to see in the show.
