If anyone is a member of GS Rewards, they currently have a coupon for Buy2/Get2 on Wii games (10,000 pts) until Dec 9th.
Not particularly awesome for the amount of points necessary, but on the other hand I don't need CoD dog tags or an Assassin's Creed belt buckle.

I will definitely be keeping my Wii...and it is unlikely that I will purchase an upgrade until it stops supporting Netflix and Hulu Plus.

Now that the WiiU has been released, however, I do wonder how many new games will be released for the Wii. I tried searching for a list of upcoming Wii games, but the lists I found were less than robust. Since the Wii was such a popular system, I would expect new games for several more years, but - if the lists I found are correct - it looks like there is going to be a unprecendented decline in new games.

(I do not think that the lists that I located are correct. Does anyone know where I can find a list of upcoming Wii games? You would think that GameStop or Amazon would have somethign like this, but I have not yet located it.)

I usually use gamefaqs for upcoming release lists. You can browse by system and then narrow the list down to a specific region.

Here's the Wii list for North America:

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Nintendo already stated that they weren't going to be releasing any more Wii games. So anything that does come out will be third party.

Personally I'm glad it will be minimal. We don't need the Wii on life support for 6 years like the PS2 was!

Nintendo of America has stated they're done releasing Wii games. And I think the last Wii title Nintendo developed was the sound-puzzle game Kiki Trick, released only in Japan almost a year ago. We can safely say the Wii's final "high profile" release was Epic Mickey 2, which debuted to a thud. What the system will see now is a smattering of movie tie ins and other shovelware, though that's somewhat in doubt too given that GameStop, Walmart and others are making room for Wii U. If anyone in America is waiting for one or two more great Wii games, I would highly reccomend reading about region hacking your Wii (there are at least one or two "zero risk" methods) and importing Pandora's Tower, Fatal Frame 2 remake, Disaster or Another Code R.

To the original question, I'll probably keep my Wii to serve as a backup GC.

This is prime time to buy a Wii, If I can't convince my brother to sell me his for cheap I'll get one from somewhere else and start grabbing games before prices start to creep up. It would be a bummer if online got dropped quickly, but since wii games and controllers work on the wiiu I'd hope they keep it running for at least a few years.

Why would i give up my wii? Its my main console for emulation and is so easily hacked and many different adaptors are available so you can use a real snes or nes controller on it. Its also the cheapest and most logical way to play gamecube games via component, so like the vita until the wii u is fully hackable for emulation ill be holding out on upgrading to the wii u.
