My point still stands. I'd have told them I appreciate the thought but if we take it back I can get a much better system for less money if you just give me the money to build my own. Which is pretty much what you're gonna have to do now, except out of your pocket and you're going to have to make compromises. Why bother? Just take it back.
You probably can't get around a new psu, but those can be cheap, and honestly you'd probably be replacing the stock one at some point anyway. On my system I put together last winter I got a GTX550ti, which isn't the greatest card at all, but you can get one for under $100, and it's handled most games I've played with very few issues. Unless you're insistent on 60fps it can play most games at near max setting. You may be able to get a better performing ATI card for about the same price but I'm not totally sure (I only went with NVIDIA for cuda support.)

I can run Crysis on a postage stamp on max settings. Is just as valid as your statement and just as nonsensical.

NVDIA has even been kind enough to make a bunch of settings suggestions with aa estimated fps. Again, not everything maxed on every game. But near everything maxed on most games. Unfortunately their list doesn't have many of the newest games, but what can you do.
To reiterate, it can play many games, at near max settings and a decent resolution, at a decent fps. It's not a great card by any means (I made no such claim, I didn't even pick it for gaming reasons), but for $100 it does much better than I expected. Which in my opinion makes a it decent suggestion for a cheap upgrade on a gifted computer.

That STILL means absolutely jack shit though. What you class as a decent resolution some people wouldn't. What do you class as a 'decent' (whatever 'decent' means) resolution? A lot of these posts tend to be ego stroking justification for purchase and little else. You might class a decent resolution as 720p or hell you might even think 1024x768 is a decent resolution. Resolution is a squared problem and you telling somebody that a sub £100 GPU is adequate might actually not be adequate at all. They might have a 27" screen and need an extra GB of RAM if they want to have any hope in hell of enabling AA. Without actual figures or proof it's meaningless.

While I agree that the closing paragraph is still a vague, subjective thing, the link he provided does give general settings for a number of games that could give a general performance impression. It does seem to be a mite optimistic if you compare review results with nVidia's results...but there some numbers there.
