So you go on a trip and have me watch your dogs.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Also, make it clear that the roommate or a kennel should be used in future.

This reminds me of a situation I had not too long ago, and shows how good friends operate. I visited he and his wife, and his puppy. His puppy got into the guest room while I was asleep, stole my brand new leather belt, and proceeded to gnaw on it until I woke up. I can't blame the little guy, that belt did smell you it would be edible. So next morning:

Slate: How did you sleep?

Luke: Good. Only bad thing is your puppy used my new belt as a chew toy.

Slate: Man. I don't know how he got out.

Luke: I should have locked my door.

Slate: Go halfsies?

Luke: Sure buddy. And buy me breakfast.

Slate: Scotty (their puppy) keeps the belt.

So although your Sister is responsible, maybe her friend won't be a jerk and offer some monetary compensation. Tell her to do the sad puppy face too. Might help.

That's how I would hope it'd turn out. But these days I wouldn't be surprised if the friend just made an awkward face, turned to the puppy and said "did you do that?" in an annoying cutesy manner, and then avoided contact with the sister as long as she felt was needed to forget about the laptop, or until she needed another favor.

The real question here is...
who let the dogs out?

That's actually how I assume this will turn out, IF my sister has the balls to tell her friend - who happens to be a guy. He's done stuff like this several times. Once his sister was in town for some conference and she needed wheels. So he asked my sister to let his sister borrow my sister's car.

I was there when it happened and I asked "why dont you let your sister use YOUR car?" He responded with something about having to go to work. Oh well, then that's good, I guess my sister doesn't have to go to work or anything, ass.

Honestly, I think I'm gonna end up being the one facing her friend and having him pony up some repair costs.

You're going about this all wrong. It's not your issue and stepping in is a bad idea. I understand you want to step up for your sister, but it is her responsibility.

Give her advice, but that's as far as you should go.

Looks like it might be. I suggested her telling him to get a kennel next time and she snapped at me. Basically yelled at me via text. She said it's HER problem and SHE'LL take care of it.

So I did the brotherly thing and told her "Youre right. its your problem. have someone else look at your urine soaked lappy."
