lol
We still run Smash Bros tournaments here, too. We just had a pretty big one, too.
We were playing it on a Gamecube, though.

Re: Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
I just had a group of people playing Smash Bros. on my N64 a few days ago. Doesn't matter that it's old, it's still Smash Bros.

Re: Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
Right, I mean, Arena fighters will always be fun. I honestly think I have played every Arena fighter of note other than TMNT: Smash Up and Small Arms.
And I still think Brawl is a fun game, just a mess when it comes to competitive play. And just because a game is competitive doesn't automatically make it not fun for casuals, so I don't really understand how anyone could ever make the argument that adding things like tripping - which is just as much an annoyance for casual players - enhanced anything.
The only argument I can come with as to why Smash Bros Brawl is a better game than Melee is that it has more characters. More stages. More items. More modes. That's about it. And I'm sure for most people, that's all they care about. It's why games like Skullgirls are already being swept under the rug while games like SFxT still have people playing them (usually while wishing the game played more like either SF4 or MvC3).
It's not that Sakurai took aim at the competitive community. It's that Sakurai took aim at anyone. It's that he held contempt for his own fanbase for playing his game in a way he didn't agree with. You think Capcom intended for MvC2 or CvS2 to be played the way it has been for the past 10 years?
But I digress. I'm excited for this new game for many reasons, although the top reasons being that they have already made clear they are focused on making the game competition-friendly, and that with the limited roster already in the game, we already see a lot of play-styles represented. Radec, for instance, is a zoning character - a type of character who would be low-tier in Brawl, but he's already tearing it up in early gameplay.
Not only did I not know who Radec was, but I personally hated Killzone 2. I thought the game was sluggish, bland and just bad all around. Yet I'm still excited to play as him.

Is it just me or is this up there with the worst game titles ever?
Um... why?the7k wrote:Not only did I not know who Radec was, but I personally hated Killzone 2. I thought the game was sluggish, bland and just bad all around. Yet I'm still excited to play as him.
Re: Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
With SFxT, it's more like "pay to not learn how to play the game". With Brawl (or smash in general), I like the roll of the dice. It'd be a boring game if it were not for the constant insanity.the7k wrote:Spirit of competition. Just as I am against SFxT's Pay-To-Win bullshit, I'm against Brawl's roll-of-the-dice bullshit.
As for Playstation All Stars Battle whatever - I think it is VERY telling that it is not SONY All Stars.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

New attract sequene trailer is out.
Very cool how superbot has put some thought into the rivalries! And the decision made for the games final boss is simply brilliant!
TIME FOR SOME PAYBACK!!!!

Because such a significant portion of Playstation's best exclusives aren't developed by Sony, right?Flake wrote:As for Playstation All Stars Battle whatever - I think it is VERY telling that it is not SONY All Stars.

Oh, I see now! The final boss is
.

.

Lokar from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Why didn't I see it sooner?

Re: Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
So I finally budged on the game now that it's $20 and gives a free copy to my vita. After playing this game with 3 friends I've come to the conclusion this is arguably one of the best multi-player games on the PS3 console.
I know I will be in trouble for saying this but... I like this game better than Brawl, much better actually.
