Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale

Well, Sony announced (officially) it's Super Smash Bros clone. I think the Sony characters will be fun to see in a mashup. I don't really care that it's a blatant ripoff, so many games are.

I won't buy it as I'm not an SSB fan in the first place, but I think it's fun that it exists and would like to play it.

What do you guys think?

Looks awesome to me. I love Smash Brothers, so its kind of an obvious sell for me as well.

As I always do for the Smash games, I'm most interested to see what the character roster will ultimately be.

Truth be told though, the one thing I want most is a Smash clone from Sega. That would make my year.

There was a preview of it put up on destructoid a little while ago and it sounds really promising actually. Of course everyone will complain about the name. I'm actually confused as to why it is playstation and not sony in the name but whatever. From the preview it sounds awesome, the stages change to different games (a LBP stage ends up changing to a hot shots golf driving range.)

Can we start wildly speculating about who might be in the game now? I'm hoping for chirpy guy (or girl) from journey. If there isn't a character from team Ico's games I'm going to be sorely disappointed. Maybe they could have Ico and wander like ssb has link and young link. Maybe the kid from the last guardian (don't know that game seems like it won't be coming out to me.)

I'm sure there will be a slow leak of information about characters from the game for the next couple of months and I'm sure even more at E3. Does the game have a release window even? I haven't noticed one yet.

Just a thought but a game like this would be a great way to get people familiar with characters before a game is released so maybe we will see some new IP's showing up in this game too.

Game looks amazing from what I saw.

Also, the game has some competitive players involved in it's creation. Ed Ma and MAJ, both members of the Street Fighter community, and apparently the project head is a member of the Virtua Fighter community. This has me excited, as it might actually be a solid game from a competitive stand-point.

Also love that you can only kill with supers, and you can only get supers by fighting. This means you won't have that one lame duck who waits for people to beat each other to near death, then comes in to steal kills.

A lot of potential for characters, too. The game was initially inspired by this commercial:

Tons of characters that might show up. Long as Old Snake is there, I'll be happy. Then again, Parappa being there has me happy already.

Would anyone else be surprised if Snake didn't show up? I'm sure we'll see Drake, Jak, Ratchet, and Sackboy.

I hope Snake doesn't appear because the guys at Sony would be absolutedly opposed to him apearing in Smash Bros and this game at the same time. And it sucks to remove such a cool character from Smash.

I hope Robbit (jumping flash) is a character. I will buy it just to play as him. His games were part of the playstation's original lineup fall 1995. I could also see them putting some Toshinden characters and maybe throwing some wild arms characters in there.

I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. On the one hand, I think it's going to be an interesting and weird mash-up. But on the other, I hate the Smash Bros games.

I'm kinda interested since I enjoy Smash Bros. type of fighting games but I'm more curious as to the character roster that will be playable in the game.
