Knocked out another one this week!
For those that are familiar with Little King's Story on the Wii, New Little King's Story is the exact same game except for a few new features and a much better means of control (buttons and a thumbstick rather than a Wiimote).
For those not familiar, NLKS is very similar to Pikmin, but with a city building element thrown in. You directly control a king that, by himself, is fairly weak. However, as you build up your settlement you can recruit villagers of various disciplines to join you in liberating the surrounding lands from monsters. You pretty much throw these villagers at the enemy and various obstacles to complete quests, collect rewards and unlock more "jobs" for your followers. These new jobs allow you to explore even further.
It's a very charming and fun game, always dangling a few new carrots in front of you after each completed objective - it had me saying "just one more quest..." at 3 a.m. on a week night on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, by the end of the game the quests had become pretty repetitive, and the framerate was horrendous. Many times I felt like I was playing the game in slow motion.
Problems aside, if you're looking for a game that you can enjoy in small doses and that always gives you something to work towards, I think it's worth picking up. It took me around 20 hours to get 30/50 trophies, so you can definitely squeeze a good value out of it.
