This is easily one of my favorite arcade racing games of the current generation, up there with Split/Second and Burnout Paradise. Since it was developed by Criterion, and uses an open-world layout with a lot of hidden goodies, it's extremely close to being Burnout Paradise 2.

It's not going to change anyone's mind if they don't already enjoy racing games, but for those that do it's a must-have.

Pretty freaking mediocre gameplay. Very repetitive and generic 2D beat-em up. And the "cutscenes" were horrendous. They were done in a comic book style, but the artwork was just terrible. Definetly not done by anyone at DC Comics, that's for sure; they might have been drawn by one of the developers kids.

And the final piece of crap cutscene reveals that Darkseid, not Brainiac as we were led to believe, was behind everything. Right when you think you're gonna get to play the "real" last-level and fight Darkseid, the credits start rolling...WTF?! It was like they wanted to do another level, but couldn't get it done in time for the deadline or something. But if that was the case, couldn't they have taken the whole Darkseid part out of the final cutscene?

Luckily, I got this for free.

21- Mortal Kombat (Ps3) *NEW*

Well i finished the story mode i still have a lot to unlock, but so far the game is awesome. Since MK 4 i didn't find a MK game that fits my tastes (except shaolin monks it was new and diferent) and finally they made a new 2D fast paced mortal kombat, a fight can last seconds or until the timer goes to 0. The AI is a little cheap in some parts (ey what MK dosen't have a cheap AI?) and GOD THAT F**** SHAO KAHN! I feel that are some unbalanced fighters but for me MK is not a game about "fair" or "competition" fighting is about fun and throwing your enemy to a living tree after hiting his croch several times. And yeah the X-Ray thing cool but it can get tiresome watching it over and over again.
But in overall awesome game it feels like they merge MK2 and MK3 together and added a few new things to the franchise, i traded my GoW 3 for this game and i really happy about this desition.

I don't like the new MK quite as much as Mortal Kombat II, but it's very easily the best game since UMK3. Probably the biggest comeback for a dying franchise I've ever seen.

I beat VH on $1 (4 credits), using 3 of my credits on the last boss.

He-Man is teh awesomesauce and a hell of a lot more fun than a $1 game should be.

A couple more on the pile. I plan to play a lot of 007 games this month and have two recent titles almost done - so look for those on the list soon :)

Beat Pit Fighter on the Genesis yesterday for fun. Yes, I said fun.

One thing I'm unsure of though. There's a lot of chatter from the crowds in the game such as "You're a wimp". I can't tell if one is shouting out "Gay!" or "Yay!".

ah, so nice to have a working Saturn again. Thanks foxhound!

So I 1cc'd Fighting Vipers my first time playing it. I guess it's kind of easy? Though I did find it fun. I used Candy and got used to her moves quickly. I could see myself playing this more on harder difficulties. There's also apparently Arrange Mode and Hyper Mode to try as well. Maybe it's the weird cast or the over-the-topness of the fighting (a good hit will send an opponent flying!) but I kind of feel more into this one than say Virtua Fighter so far.

Sat and played through this one in two sittings. Very fun, very tense, and very violent. I loved the soundtrack and after the initial motion sickness I came to like the graphical style. It was a nice diversion for this evening. :D

Holy crap.

To the uninitiated, this may look like an homage to the early Grand Theft Autos. However, it is nothing like those games. Hotline Miami is fast-paced, ultra-violent and extremely strategic with a totally kick-ass soundtrack.

Taking down entire floors of mobsters is so incredibly satisfying when you perfectly execute a carefully laid out plan; a sense of satisfaction that comes from the marriage of well-balanced difficulty and spot-on controls. It's the kind of game where when you die, you know why you died, and you're able to take steps to avoid that death on your next attempt. I never felt cheated.

And you will die a lot. The game is built like Super Meat Boy - lots of extremely difficult action but in short bursts. When you do die, you only lose about 3-5 seconds of progress, and your last checkpoint loads instantly.

Hotline Miami is awesome and easily one of my favorite games of the year. I give it a thumbs-up out of yes.

54. New Little King's Story (Vita)

Knocked out another one this week!

For those that are familiar with Little King's Story on the Wii, New Little King's Story is the exact same game except for a few new features and a much better means of control (buttons and a thumbstick rather than a Wiimote).

For those not familiar, NLKS is very similar to Pikmin, but with a city building element thrown in. You directly control a king that, by himself, is fairly weak. However, as you build up your settlement you can recruit villagers of various disciplines to join you in liberating the surrounding lands from monsters. You pretty much throw these villagers at the enemy and various obstacles to complete quests, collect rewards and unlock more "jobs" for your followers. These new jobs allow you to explore even further.

It's a very charming and fun game, always dangling a few new carrots in front of you after each completed objective - it had me saying "just one more quest..." at 3 a.m. on a week night on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, by the end of the game the quests had become pretty repetitive, and the framerate was horrendous. Many times I felt like I was playing the game in slow motion.

Problems aside, if you're looking for a game that you can enjoy in small doses and that always gives you something to work towards, I think it's worth picking up. It took me around 20 hours to get 30/50 trophies, so you can definitely squeeze a good value out of it.
