TBH, this concerns me more than the movies as well. I'd sure like to see the originals on Blu-Ray, but new content is more important to me than higher quality re-releases of the old stuff.

I've never watched the Muppet Chrismas Carol except for the apparently uncut VHS version. I guess I won't ever be upgrading to the DVD then.

So many of the reactions I've seen around are pretty much identical to when Marvel got bought out by them a few years back...

I may kid, but I honestly don't care. I don't think Disney can't do worse than Jar Jar, anyway.

So I just thought: if they make VII, VIII, and IX, how well (or poorly) will they match up with the Jedi Knight series from 10 or so years back? They were also set after the original trilogy, with a new Jedi order fighting the Imperial remnants. Will that storyline be thrown out?

There are a lot of post-ROTJ storylines out there. I doubt Disney's gonna lock themselves into matching up with EU canon or whatever, and I don't really blame them.

Kyle Katarn is hands down one of my favorite characters in the whole verse, the Jedi Knight games / story is top notch.

I think it's fascinating to remember, that the Star Wars films have all been independent. Just take that in for a second. It's pretty cool.

I'm not really worried about this or anything at all. I think it's cool. All I hope is that Lucas lets go of his grip a bit with the next trilogy (certainly doesn't direct them), and then it should be in good hands. He is a great creator/visonary, but doesn't really have the skills for execution. The OT is magical because other people had control, the cast actually had balls and would suggest or change things on their own, "I know...", when that wasn't really the case with the new trilogy.

Not to get into that discussion, but yeah. Now I'm just wondering what the next trilogy will be about. I hope it's set way into the future and breaks away from the original six. The original actors are far too old and ugly (sorry Mark), and seeing them replaced by anyone would just make me instantly never watch them, so yeah.

I'm not seeing that so much here with the comments, even if I were born into the later 80's after the originals were out, Star Wars has always been a big part of my growing up and life in general. I'm not obsessed or have even really read much of the books (but I definitely want too), but yeah it's a franchise I'll be into for life... so can't wait to see where things head now. I think this'll bring on good times.

We're getting more star wars movies. And they won't be directed by Lucas. And Han Solo could potentially be in them. Sounds like a good thing.

Thats an interesting issue that Ive been thinking about for years. Heir is based fiveish years after Return of the Jedi, so if they use that as the plot they would have to have new actors play all the leads. Since in our time its been 30 years... But if they do that well lets just say someone screwing up Han could make Hayden Christoper look like an excellent choice for Vader. Personally I hope they push into their own version of the expanded universe and pace it properly. If you want to use Luke and Han, thats great, but remember the actors are in their 60s now, though Harrison Ford still has a hell of a handshake, so the characters should be aged as well.

As for the Lucasarts properties that is one of the things that honestly scares me the most. I can see a bigwig at Disney looking at Monkey Island and saying "lets make a show like Adventure Time in this universe." Those games dont need to be turned into tvshows, they need sequels. I mean Maniac Mansion was a TERRIBLE tvshow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOk4khUh5KU

The other two things that worry me are since Lucas is so pro fan industry, and Disney is so against, what happens to the fanflim and costuming folk. I mean they could go on fine no change, but how long until Disney goes "the 501st is using our IPs illegally." Other than that how long will it be before Disney goes "Indy 4 isnt selling as well as the originals, lets put the original trilogy in the vault to boost Indy 4 sales."
