But the AES was the first console release?
Uh...no, Neo Geo CD. Nevermind, sorry about that.
Well, we can lump the NG and NGCD together...
Was there any NGCD exclusives?

Ohhh sorry I was thinking you were including MVS too. I think Viewpoint was pretty well known and was ported to SNES and genesis. But I agree that Pulstar is probably a little more well known. Twinkle Star Sprites also got ported to Saturn and Dreamcast....but only in Japan so i don't know. Honestly I'm not really "in the know" about AES. All my neo experience is on MVS cabs.

Also...
Was Waku Waku 7 on AES?

I guess I may be a bit naive -- I'm planning on combining AES/MVS/NGCD -- is there a reason for me not to?
I figured there was enough overlap...

I vote for Shock Troopers and Baseball Stars 2, although they doesn't necessarily define the Neo Geo. I can remember playing them with friends at a local Pizza Hut for hours on end. Plus, they are just as enjoyable to play today as they were in the early 90's.

I think thats a stellar idea!

And this list makes it all the better

That should help.
Nice! That is helping me establish a timeline. It's nice to see when everything came out, and how much better is is to own an MVS for the biggest variety of games. Super. Haha I for got about Crossed Swords...that game was bizzare. And I used to play Robo Army all the time, even though it was pretty bland.

The Super Sidekicks series was BIG in Mexico a few years back, I hated it, especially when it was on a MVS machine and I couldn't play KOF.

I still remember the horrible spanish voices "Super Sidekicks Tresssss, la Siguiente Glouuuuuriaaaa".

The OG choice pack-ins, Magician Lord and Nam '75 get my vote. Those to me mean Neo-Geo. King of Fighters is a defining series for the Neo, 98 and 2002 being the best. MotW in the FF line, would also be a pre-swan song (SSVS is the song)

Samurai Shodown II in my neck of the woods mean Neo, though.

Don't forget the Shmups!

Of them the finest imho are:

Blazingstar
Viewpoint
Strikers: 1945

Each for a respective style Hori, Iso, and Vert.
