I definitely enjoyed Nekromantik a lot more. Still need to see Nekromantik 2, however.KillerJuan77 wrote:Schramm
I'd dare to say this is the director's best film (I still have a fond appreciation for Der Todesking though). It's along the line of Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer and it's about a... serial killer
and while it's definetely disturbing and violent (There's a scene similar to the one in Sick: The Life and Death Of Bob Flanagan where he drives a nail through... fill the blanks), this one feels, looks and works much better than anything Jörg Buttgereit directed before. It's really good and the main character is portrayed flawlessly by Florian Koerner.
Aside from Part IV: The Final Chapter, The New Blood is definitely my favorite F13 flick - I love everything about it. The telekinetic, Tina is such an interesting character in the F13 universe (they even brought her back in the comics!), and it's awesome that they introduced a worthy, though equally vulnerable adversary for Jason.Luke wrote:noiseredux wrote:
Friday the 13th Part VII The New Blood
Kane Hodder FTW!
I've always been mixed on this one. The telekenetic girl is kind of a meh plot for me. But hey, at least they were trying some new stuff. A definite hint at all the weird directions the series would take in the near future. The sleeping bag scene is of course classic though. Haha.
4/5
I love THE NEW BLOOD. To me it is the quintessential slasher flick that every horror parody tries to emulate. It's also the first movie I saw boobies in, so bonus points for that. The slimy psychologist is great, even the throwaway campers are pretty good, and the lead does a great job at looking scared, and then angry, and then back to scared. This movie has my favorite "Jason face reveal" in the entire series. Love Jason's look
so much in this movie that I thought about purchasing one of those overpriced figures from movie collectibles (or whatever it is called).
I have an on going argument with a friend who has firmly stated "Kane Hodder is the best Jason who has never been in a decent Jason movie". I think VII is a decent Jason movie.
Oh yeah, and Kane Hodder is cool too, of course.
