That movie is very odd, but I did find it quite enjoyable...Anyway, my wife and I have been busy/sick with the flu; so, we were thrown off of our schedule a little bit. That said, we did watch two more horror movies recently:

The Wolf Man (1941) - This is the last classic Universal horror movie on my list, and I am glad to cross it off. It was an enjoyable film, but it is not my favorite of the classic Universal horror films. That said, Bela Lugosi has a fun cameo, and the sets are great. Moreover, the whole thing is only 69 minutes long; so, I recommend it if you are looking for a fun diversion. If you are not a fan of Universal horror, however, I would not go out of your way to watch it. (My personal ranking of classic Universal horror films: 1. The Mummy; 2. Bride of Frankenstein; 3. The Creature from the Black Lagoon; 4. The Invisible Man; 5. Frankenstein; 6. Dracula; 7. The Wolf Man.)

The Legend of Hell House (1973) - This is a very enjoyable haunted house film that get going very quickly and never lets up until the very end. It is still quite scary despite its age, and my wife an I enjoyed it thoroughly. It is definitely in the upper echelon of "haunted house" movies along side The Haunting and The Changeling, and well above the execrable Amityville Horror. The ending - while shocking - does not make much sense (but might do better if you read the book that inspired the film). This one, like The Wolf Man, is available for streaming; so, I highly recommend it if you have Netflix.

Juan of the Dead (2011)

I just got this from amazon today. It was better than I thought it would be, and I had high expectations based on the good press it recieved. A good looking film for a low budget cuban comedy/zombie movie. My biggest complaint: No blu-ray on this yet!
Definately inspired by shaun of the dead, but origianl enough to stand out from the glut of zombie material being released these days, and very funny in some parts.

Remember when we (or maybe just me) talked about an Evil Dead reboot written by Diablo Cody?

No burger phones, and it looks swell. The trailer keeps getting pulled, but if you are skilled in Google fu you should be able to find the trailer.

who is playing brue campbell's role? i always thought the lead dude from office space resembled him and could pull off that role.

I believe no one is playing that role as this is more of a re-boot, than remake. Probably along the lines of the nightmare on elm street reboot. Hopefully they pull this one off, as i hate seeing my childhood favorites keep getting the lackluster reboot treatment. The director, Fede Alvarez got this job by making an (impressive for the $300 budget) youtube sensation called "Panic Attack", so theres not really anything to judge him from. The cast is relatively unknown (Lou Taylor Pucci is the only one I recognize), and I think the lead may be female this time.

believe it or not, I'm glad there's no Ash character. I'm all for a new Evil Dead that is a NEW Evil Dead rather than a remake. Also, I don't give an F... I loved Jennifer's Body. So I'm fine w Diablo Cody penning this.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4
The last five minutes are spectacular, the other hour and fifteen minutes are watching paint dry boring. This time there is no build up, little suspense, and you don't have that sense that something terrible is about to happen which the franchise usually does so well. This go around it's just kids staring at stuff. Disappointing.

Watch it sober. Also, get ready, it's one of the coolest horror films I've ever seen (Even the soundtrack is the shit).
Yeah, I have heard many good things - but I have also heard that it is an exceptional movie to watch with your mind a bit altered. I figure it is probably Jodorowsky like in this way - no?
 I'd say watch it sober first. You'll appreciate the small touches that way. Then, by all means, watch it again later while inebriated. Most of the movie looks like it was made under the influence of acid anyway, so I imagine it'd be a real trip.

Night of the Demons

Watch it every October. I wrote a lot about it last year. Love it.
