Re: Dishonored
First Person can really make a game that much cooler, Mirror's Edge wouldn't have been as cool in third person.

Perhaps I'll pick this up soon. Looks awesome. Just need to tend to Dark Souls and Sleeping Dogs first.

Re: Dishonored
I picked it up yesterday and I'm loving it. Thief, Bioshock & System Shock 2 are some of my favorite games... and this fits right in nicely.

Re: Dishonored
What's keeping me from trying this game is that I keep hearing that there are consequences for killing people. For me, a stealth game is only fun if I can kill people. I don't want to sneak around like some wimpy prey. I want to be the predator. I loved the Tenchu series and Mark of the Ninja for the stealth kills. When I played Beyond Good and Evil I tried to take out as many guards as possible and even though you can't kill in the Batman games, it's still fun to knock out people and instill terror into nearby enemies who find their unconscious friends.
Mark of the Ninja had a point deduction at the end of each stage for players who killed anyone, but it was never large enough to make it impossible to get the high score for the stage while killing everyone in your path.
I'm thinking about playing this or Sleeping Dogs very soon and am having a hard time deciding.

Re: Dishonored
So everyone in the game can be taken down nonlethally, so you still get the "I take out everyone in my path", but after you finish the mission they can all get back and go home to their families. So if that's the only thing making you reconsider, then get the game. I've had fun learning the guard patterns so I can pick off each guard one-by-one without getting caught.

And before you ask: no, I am not saying that Bioshock was a bad game, I really enjoyed playing it.
Oh, I will readily say that Bioshock was a bad game.
"Bioshock was a bad game."
See?
I just couldn't get into it. Cool art design, but boring enemies, boring levels, and boring gameplay kind of overwhelmed the good in it.

what made any of those things "boring"? They were all pretty much refined and/or innovative approaches to those elements as they had previously appeared in the genre.Robonaut wrote:Menegrothx wrote:The last game that tried to pull that one off was Bioshock. Remember how that turned out?

Re: Dishonored
I dont see how you can call Bioshocks gameplay refined compared to System Shock. It has a lot more intresting and refined art style though, atleast in my opinnion (it's hard to have intresting art design if you're stuck on a space ship)dsheinem wrote:what made any of those things "boring"? Re: Dishonored
So I beat the game a few nights ago. I definitely plan a "kill em all" playthrough for later. Reading over the forums it seems like the later levels really change based on if you've been murdering everyone or going nonlethal.
