Re: Review the original Xbox
The Xbox is my favorite of last gen's offerings. PC games have always been my favorite, and as the console who's games have more resembled the PC games of its time moe than any other game system, the Xbox is a natural fit for me. It recieved several ports of PC games which, at the time, was great for people who can't afford to keep their PC up-to-date at all times. Just because you didn't have $700 to blow on a new rig didn't mean you had to skip Deus Ex 2 or Doom 3! PS2 and GCN owners missed out on stuff like that. And in the realm of console-style games, Xbox nearly always had the best versions of multiplat titles due to the more powerful hardware. The graphics tended to be sharper, while the framerate and draw distance would be greater. Thanks to coming with a built-in hard drive, there was no need for $30 memory cards that would eventually fill up, and save and loading times were quicker as well.. And due to the nature of the Xbox's fans (always wanting the next cutting edge thing), great Xbox games in general are cheaper than the equivalent PS2, DC and GCN games, making it an excellent choice for a gamer on a tight budget. The only real disadvantages to the Xbox are a lack of Japanese games, a bad d-pad, and the size of the thing.
