Thank god. Still doesn't really help the MvSF roster, though.

MvC2 has an equal number of Marvel and Capcom characters, if I'm not mistaken. Can't believe I never noticed that about MvC though.... I still think it would have been nice to have another Marvel character, and Norimaro as a bonus character, but oh well.

Why? Sakura plays nothing like an average shoto. She doesn't even play like her normal self in this game, (shielded DP, Upward arc Hado etc.) Ken and Ryu got even further separated in terms of their playstyle. And Dan... Well Dan is Dan

I guess you have a bone to pick with shoto clones but you seem to be perfectly cool with 2x Wolvie in the MVC2 roster

Oh, I adore playing as Sakura in almost any game, but she's still similar enough to Ryu, Ken, Akuma and Dan that it starts to feel like too much. If it were just a Street Fighter game, then yeah, I get it: People want their particular brand of clone. But this is MARVEL VS Street Fighter. Surely a more diverse roster would be more appropriate here.

Yeah, well mainly due to the size of the roster. The shotos take up a disproportionate number of spaces in the MvSF roster, making character selection much more limited. MvC2 throws in every character but the kitchen sink; So yeah, there are plenty of clones, but at least there's such a wide selection of characters that it's almost a moot point.

This isn't anything new though. Its been the case for many other fighting games (CVS1, Alpha 1 2 and 3, SF4, 2nd I, 3S)

It's an issue in general with street fighter, but that doesn't necessarily excuse MSH vs SF.

I mean MSH vs SF's Street Fighter lineup is basically shoto, shoto, shoto, shoto, shoto (okay I guess Sakura is arguable), Chun-Li, Zangeif, Dhalsim, Bison. That's at least half of their entire side.

It's also not really a problem with bigger rosters. Alpha 2 and 3 aren't "vs" games, so 4/5 out of 16 or 4/5 out of like, 30 or so isn't as big a deal. 4/5 out of 8 is just limiting feeling.

MvC1's version of Ryu was the coolest thing ever though.

And the second Wolverine in MvC2 was stupid.

No need to hide that. After hearing "Onslaught Win" a few times, I put in MvC2 instead. Which is a shame, because MvC is good, and the different helper characters were always nice. Plus, individual endings for each character.

Yes. Yes it is.

Yes, I seriously don't consider her a TRUE shoto clone character and even if she was, she plays under a completely different rulebook which ultimately makes her a completely fleshed out character in her own right. If she is considered a shoto, then what prevents Cyclops from being defined as one also (Optic Blast/Cyclone Kick/Gene Splice :!: )
It's also not really a problem with bigger rosters. Alpha 2 and 3 aren't "vs" games, so 4/5 out of 16 or 4/5 out of like, 30 or so isn't as big a deal. 4/5 out of 8 is just limiting feeling.
I hear ya. but for me, I personally don't see these characters as the same especially in this game compared to Xmen vs SF. I don't approach a fight using Ken with Ryu, Akuma tactics. Ken ain't got no super projectile for full screen punish, His Hado has limited uses (slow and can't travel full screen) and his Hurricane travels at an arc making it rather risky to use than ever. His dash is also the weakest of the 3 shotos. I don't even wanna explain Dan
MvC1's version of Ryu was the coolest thing ever though.
It really was! Very awesome Ryu in that game
And the second Wolverine in MvC2 was stupid.
Yes! They simply brought back an old Wolvie mechanic for Bone Claws

@Noise - X-Men vs. SF is my favorite Marvel crossover, followed by MvC 1&2 (I just like 'em both a lot.) Never had a lot of love for MSH vs. SF, but I honestly haven't spent as much time with it as the others, so maybe I'm biased. The shoto parade just irritates the piss outta me, so meh.

As far as MSH goes, no console port can hold a candle to the Arcade version; they're just lacking in too many areas.

My favorite vs. game is for sure CvSNK2: I'm just enamored with SNK fighters. Ever since I played the Fatal Fury games on SNES; I was hooked. So yeah, I'm with you on that.

Oh, I definitely concur w/ Ryu in MvC being awesome. I also like the Iron Zangief transformation, too.
