Look, I've owned multiple iOS and Android phones, and both have their ups and downs.
Benefits to iOS include a smoother experience and less apps crashing. Apple is far better at optimizing their software for their hardware. I would also argue that iPhones are more intuitive than the average Android phone. Downsides include iOS being kind of boring. Android is more customizable, more fun, more open. Only with a jailbroken iPhone do you basically get the functionality of a stock unrooted Android device. The iPhone is also a better size for one handed use. At least for those of us with smaller hands.
Android seems to be rapidly gaining ground though. I've heard great things about Jelly Bean, but my Rezound doesn't support it.
Currently faced with the decision of whether to go with an iPhone 5, upcoming Android phone, or upcoming Windows 8 phone. Not sure yet. I was ready to go with the iPhone 5, but the new Apple made "Maps" app appears to be horrible. Absolutely horrible.
