nah, hipsters go for the iPhone and people who value their money go for Droid.
Very good. IPhones are good for the technically challenged. I hate the control apple has over their devices and proprietary cables.

You get more from and android phone.

Heh.. Benchmarks say otherwise.

Look, I've owned multiple iOS and Android phones, and both have their ups and downs.

Benefits to iOS include a smoother experience and less apps crashing. Apple is far better at optimizing their software for their hardware. I would also argue that iPhones are more intuitive than the average Android phone. Downsides include iOS being kind of boring. Android is more customizable, more fun, more open. Only with a jailbroken iPhone do you basically get the functionality of a stock unrooted Android device. The iPhone is also a better size for one handed use. At least for those of us with smaller hands.

Android seems to be rapidly gaining ground though. I've heard great things about Jelly Bean, but my Rezound doesn't support it.

Currently faced with the decision of whether to go with an iPhone 5, upcoming Android phone, or upcoming Windows 8 phone. Not sure yet. I was ready to go with the iPhone 5, but the new Apple made "Maps" app appears to be horrible. Absolutely horrible.

Engadget:
Still, the iPhone 5 absolutely shines. Pick your benchmark and you'll find Apple's thin new weapon sitting at or near the top.
CNET:
Final verdict:
If we had to recommend just one handset of the three right now, based on these specs and experience we would (narrowly) choose the iPhone 5 as an all-around phone.

...and I've yet to see Android games besting iOS' nicest looking games...

Galaxy S3 has bigger screen, better battery life, and a more powerful processor.

Apple is able to optimize some programs better.

Yes, the S3 has a higher clock speed on its' processor, but the phone measures lower in GeekBench. For what that is worth.

As far as battery life. How good is it on the S3? That is a phone I am considering. But one thing keeping me away is that big screen. My hands aren't that big for a guy. Even typing with 1 hand on my Rezound (only 4.3" screen) can be pretty annoying. But it's relatively easy to type with one hand on an iPhone in my experience.

I am a big guy so its not bad. My wife also has one and doesn't have issue.

Battery life I amazing. It will go all day without charging. My S1 before made It to lunch time...

Screen is great, maybe too big for some. It is almost the size of the small e-readers

I can usually go a day or two with even a 2 year old iPhone 4 without charging, and I don't want a hulking screen in my pocket and am glad that Apple didn't expand it too much with the new phone (and I agree that vertical expansion>horizontal expansion). I just don't see a CURRENT andriod with specs that I care about besting an iPhone 5. As far as customization/proprietary control - all iPhones have been jailbreakable if I were so interested, so I don't see that as an issue really. Besides, I had iPaqs and earlier devices for years (long before they were in phones) and I've had my fill of regediting mobile devices and forcing emulation, overclocking, etc. of various things.

my serious problem with iPhones is the price. All around. I have LG Optimus V right now. It was under $200. I have no contract, but a ton of minutes and unlimited text and data through Virgin Mobile. I get this for about $25 a month (this same plan is now about $35 I believe -- as my wife recently upgraded to Droid and got an Optimus Elite, but I'm grandfathered). Oh and Android apps? I've yet to find one that I wanted that wasn't free. Spec-wise, I really don't care that I'm on a 3G network. I use the internet on my phone to browse here, check my email and stream Pandora and podcasts. 3G handles all of that just fine. With these prices in mind, it's aways kind of amazing to me how much people spend on cellphones and their contracts.
