Solid state storage isn't immune to it either. Of course, for different reasons than batteries.
I haven't had 1 of my mem cards die yet, but there's always a possibility.
You know what sucks?!
Same here. I had a team of 12 natural level 100s too.ScreamingPixel wrote:Yeah i did that with one of the old pokemon games.Seganerd wrote:I feel your pain. I once spent nearly two hours trying to get a certain toy capsule for Shenmue and my game just freeze. Or losing my save on earthbound every time I play. I would say just give it two to three weeks and try playing it again, you be will less frustrated.
This has happened to me
In different shapes and forms (one I particularly remember was GBA batteries doing a stealth green light goes to red and dwindle in 5 seconds, while Boktai 1 was saving - fortunately I wasn't yet at the endgame).
Very recently I just lost the progress of WW: Touched and Feel the Magic XX/XY, both of them had all stages etc unlocked. On Feel the magic it was no big deal, but on WW I had SEVERAL quite high high-scores on Gallery mode though.
It currently worries me a lot that this happen to games where a lot of effort and/or time is put in, so I try to finish all games I start before moving on to another (unless I don't fancy the game).
Ivo.

Losing saves really does get me down. I've been stung a couple of times using old third party GC cards but thankfully not lost any vast amount of time to it.
The great thing about the wii using sd cards is thats its dead easy to back up your saves, although a built in hard drive would be nice as well.

They surely are, but official 1st party GC cards are pretty hard to find and expensive over here, and the 256 block version is exceptionally hard to come by.
We've got one of those white 3rd party ones from hong-kong now, which I now is asking for trouble but its behaved itself so far.
I remember years back my mate bought a 3rd party ps1 card with a huge capacity, but the console would only read so much at once so you had to press a button to page the data on it. It had a little red led that blinked to let you know which page you were on (was that 15 or 16 blinks? balls i'll have to start again) which not only meant it got real confusing trying to remember what page you stored your Gran Turismo game on but it frequently wipped itself completely clean.
Thankfully, the guy who owned it was an irritating twat so we just laughed at his anguish.

I had that same crappy PS1 memory card! I erased my FF VII, Tactics, SOTN and Metal Gear Solid Data in one fell swoop. I threw that thing away after it did it twice. "10 times the storage, twice the headache!!!"Curlypaul wrote:They surely are, but official 1st party GC cards are pretty hard to find and expensive over here, and the 256 block version is exceptionally hard to come by.

That memory card was bad on so many levels------I've never gotten a 3rd party memory card since. I hate that freakin' thing to this day. After 50 hours on FFVII, it erased my save files. I never got back into FFVII (although I tried), and I still can't bring myself to play a true RPG.ott0bot wrote:I had that same crappy PS1 memory card! Joy Mecha Fight looks great, btw. I checked youtube for a video and the way the characters move reminds me of Vectorman. Sorry about your lost file.
Meh it's alright, I'll get back to where I was one day.Harvey wrote:That memory card was bad on so many levels------I've never gotten a 3rd party memory card since. I feel sorry for your loss of playtime. When you think about it, time being money and all, losing video game saves can be damn near irreplaceable. I don't have the time to replace most lost saves, especially JRPGs. I work 40-48 hour weeks and have a mortgage and a spouse... not really much time to play games new to me, let alone catch up on old ones!
If I lost all 90 hours of Persona 3 for some reason, I would probably want to cry. I would at least utter a string of colorful profanities.
Of course, this reminds me of why I love emulators so much. Cartridge battery problems are nonexistent, scratched discs are a thing of the past, and you can copy everything to a backup folder whenever you please.
