I don't know what Amnesia is, but HL2 and Portal are both on consoles.
As far as online FPS gaming goes, gamepads got nothing on keyboard&mouse combination.
This is a preference though. One of comfort.
How does Half Life work on DC controller?
Left stick = aim/look
Face buttons = move (up, down, left, right)
Right trigger = shoot
DPad = crouch, jump, use, change weapons
It sounds strange at first, but I got comfortable with it really really fast. It's weird. It's kind of similar to a southpaw setup really I guess.

Not being able to jump and aim at the same time doesn't sound very good, there is a lot of platforming (and dying because of missing a jump) in HL1.
Well for platforming jump is up on DPad and moving forward is one of the face buttons. It's really easy to do this.
