Wow, MM9 can do no wrong in the eyes of the members of this board. I give up. Stupid achievements, an uninspired sequel that is just like the last eight games, crappy 8-bit graphics when we have gorgeous retro games like Braid and Alien Hominid on Xbox Live Arcade and everyone is still all excited about this. Oh well, to each his own

I'll admit I dig some of the achievements. I always liked killing every boss in the MMX series with the regular buster, but that Gamer's Day achievement is still lame in my opinion. I don't understand why Capcom loves time waster achievements lately(Dead Rising Survivor achievements, Devil May Cry 4's Bloody Palace achievements and now this). It's 2008 Capcom, many of your fans are no longer kids with massive amounts of free time anymore. We've grown up, too bad Capcom hasn't.

Okay enough ranting, I'm probably in danger of pissing some of you Mega Man fans off

Some of us are just interested in the game, not necessarily Capcom loyalists.

Trust me, I'm with you on the Gamer's Day achievement. It's silly, but won't keep me from playing the game. Dead Rising is awesome, but I could never bring myself to do the survivor achievements. At least Dead Rising had a simple distribution amongst achievements. That way the truly hardcore players could get their survivor achievements, but there's still plenty of points left over for the more mellow players. I'll be lucky to walk away with 60 points from MM9.

Who knows, maybe someone will figure out how to glitch it. Like reset your clock to the same day you started on before firing up MM9 each time. Just a thought.

I'm mostly indifferent to achievements, but difficult or time-wasting points actually qualify the term "achievement." If I get the points for 1cc on Ikaruga, those few points will be worth more to me than the 1000 points I "earned" through beating Enchanted Arms.

Beating MM9 five times in a day seems silly, but I know someone out there will do it. It is not particularly well done, but unless you're an OCD achievement whore, most gamers will gloss over this transgression and shrug their shoulders. The achievements in Ikaruga seem simple enough, but earning a 1cc game will take most gamers anywhere from 30 - 100 hours. Judging strictly by the amount of time dumped into a game, MM9 seems much more tame.

Earning 1 point for beating Bullet Witch's Hell Mode, now that's a *****.

Talk about effortless. 35 points for entering the pause menu! Guess you can't really do much with gam... I mean app like this.

What exactly is that, anyway? I've never heard of a Live Score Tracker...

The thing that bugs me is that Capcom, and quite a few other companies I might add, are taking what was originally a good idea(achievements in video games)and just turning it into something stupid and ridiculous. Hardcore gamers have been coming up with goals and challenges for their games for years, but nobody would ever say, "Hey, did you beat the game twenty times today. Awesome! You rock dude!". I mean seriously, who is coming up with this stupid crap?

Oh well, whatever. I'm probably going to pass on MM 9, but I'll be sure to see what everyone else here thinks of it after it comes out.
