I'm going to try my hardest to not look for help and beat it on my own. The time manipulation, the option to continue on the game if one puzzle is too tough, and not dying are all pretty cool features. I say people should at least download the demo and give it a shot.
Yeah, it's best not to get help. Since Braid isn't a particularly long game, you end up sort of ruining it if you get outside help with the puzzles. Solving them is really the meat of the game. The reason I tell people to think outside the box is because usually when you get stuck on a puzzle it's because you're focusing on the wrong thing, or you're simply not allowing yourself to consider something because it seems too silly or impossible.

I gave in on two puzzles when I woke up today. I finally had it, I felt I was forced to look them up otherwise I was ready to throw my 360 against the wall in anger and frustration. (If I couldn't beat a puzzle, usually I was able to put the game down, and come back to it later or the next day or whatever). One of the two I looked up, I felt I was on the right track to beating....... the other, there was no way in hell I would have figured it out (err.. I already forget the exact numbers, but one was on level 5, one on level 6).

I am satisfied with getting 58 out of 60 pieces.

Now to figure out how to get the Stars that I keep reading about, without looking at any tutorials on how to get them (all I know is they are hidden "outside" the levels, like if you bounce high enough I guess or something. I feel that I should see how to get one just so I know what exactly it is I would be going for.

I watched a video on how to get the stars, I dont see how any one found them. There is one star that involves putting 2 certain puzzle pieces together and it appears, so if you put all the puzzles together you got to start a new game to get them all.

Yeah, I had no intention of figuring out how to get the stars without help. The requirements are crazy. One requires you to wait two hours for an object to move. I figured out every regular puzzle in the game on my own, but even I wouldn't have figured that out.

Some more thoughts, that Johnathan Blow sure likes to talk. He seems to be showing up on tons of forums. He's going on and on about game design and his thoughts on Indie development and the industry in general. He has some interesting thoughts, but some of his comments are a little ridiculous(like when he talks about "unethical" game design). I think he's trying too hard to get attention.

By the way, someone came up with a fascinating analysis of the game's story. If anyone is interested, I'll post a link.

I've read several ideas on the xbox.com forums. Where did you read yours?

There seems to be a great one going on at NeoGAF, but it's all block out in spoiler tags and since I haven't had the time to finish it quite yet I'm avoiding the conversation. But I would lie GFL links because I want to dig into all of it once I'm done.

Here we go:

Interesting stuff. The game has some secrets in it too. There's some hidden text in the epilogue and people are discovering hidden stars and even finding meaning in each of the game's flags. I love unique, artistic games. Nice job Mr. Blow.

For those of you who haven't beaten it yet, wait until you see the final stage. Absolutely awesome, it's unique and memorable. Much like the final stage in Rez. It's got a great retro feel to it. You'll see. I don't like the higher price, but I'll go ahead and say that Braid is great regardless
