Whatever, dude. I won't get into a semantic argument with someone who is just looking for a fight online. I can draw you some Venn diagrams and give you a Logic 101 overview, but it's not worth it. If you like Top 40 music and take offense to my opinion that I think it's stupid, then get over it. I have a friend who is 30 and likes the Twilight movies and books. Sometimes I tease her about it, but I accept her as the way she is and respect her. At least she has a passion for something. I have a friend who is nuts about basketball games and such. While that's not my cup of tea and I personally think watching sports games on TV is boring, I don't give him crap about it. This is nothing like people who treat us on this forum for being "immature" just for enjoying stuff that society as a whole may not deem "normal" for one's age group. If you can't understand the difference, then that's not my problem. I don't post on this forum to start arguments with people.

I guess I've been really lucky as I've made it to 27 without anyone telling me to grow up. My family actually encourage my 'nerdy' hobbies. Since childhood my mum has always encouraged me not to take any shit for the things I enjoy, including video games (in fact both my mum and older sister are barely ever off their DS's!) and virtually all my friends play video games so I've always had people around me who understand and accept the things I like.

Yup it's a hobby. Simple as that at our age. Nothing more. It's usually people who don't have hobbies who point out other peoples hobbies. So I just shrug them off.

when somebody attempts to piss me off, giving me all this crap about video game is for children, i just go -Hey, im retro, ok? Video Games are just part of it, no matter you can see it or not. If they still dont give up, i just tell them to fuck off and get out of my room.

The biggest I problem I run into with my video game collection is meeting girls. Most girls are at best uninterested or only slightly interested in casual video games, and at worst are anti video games, thinking they are immature, dumb, time wasters, etc.

I've met a few like this. These are the same women who sit around watching stuff like "Flip This House" or "Hoarders" for hours on end. The same women who used to watch the "Real World" marathons on MTV.

Your responses may have been overly snippy. But you were right.

Using the word "normaltards" to describe others is offensive, arrogant and stupid. It reminds me of people who are part of a specific subculture referring to those who aren't part of their clique as mundane or boring. As if their interests make them a better person. I understand that putting down people who don't "get" you makes you feel better about who you are and what you enjoy but it's really unnecessary, you should like who you are and enjoy what you enjoy without others needing to approve.

Every time somebody finds a little tribe they're comfortable with they pretend they're being oppressed while they lash out at all the other little tribes for not being exactly like them. Everyone is at least in some small way a hypocrite and everyone at some time or another has bashed something that wasn't meant for (specifically) them to enjoy in the first place (See "periphery hatedom" on TV tropes for more about this phenomenon, Twilight comes to mind or the pop music example), and that's fine. While we should try to avoid it as best we can but it's part of being human.

There's nothing any more wrong with the people who don't understand your hobby than you not understanding what people see in other forms of entertainment.

Now if everyone in the world shared the exact same interests, that would be boring.
