"Hipster" is what parents call their children who don't have any friends because they are "different".

"Hipsters" are as unique as juggalos. "I say I think for myself, but am going to do everything else I see other people doing". They are all very "foot clan" from the original TMNT movie.

What is it they do that they see other people doing? I mean, Juggalo's are practically a cult, or even a religion, that believes they are going to a Carnival after life, and hold "family" higher than anything.

The people I see that are called "hipsters" are nothing like this. Its more of a fashion statement than a lifestyle.

And still, by that definition, most of the people here are hipster, reading racket articles and buying games purely based off of what others suggest to you, only to play them once and put them on a shelf.

I'm hipster, Harper's hipster... every single person on the planet is hipster. Not being hipster is fucking hipster.

Exactly because in order to be a hipster you have to not not be a hipster. Every not hipster doesn't not know that....not....

I never heard the term "hipster" applied to gaming as a qualifier. The hipsters I know value games that ooze a particular zeitgeist, most of them are obsessed with pinball machines, and, by extension, with the aesthetic of the golden era of the arcades. This is due in no small part to King of Kong and Chasing Ghosts, both of which do a good job of depicting the arcade era as a kind of magical age of heroes, when playing games was about chivalry and glory. (As opposed to, you know, having fun. Hipsters will believe anything they hear in an independent documentary and also believe that the entire pre-internet era was a magical age of heroes.)

Retro gaming is just a love for games from all eras, not just the current one. It's like this (true story): play Galaga and people will think it's cool and hip, play Gunstar heroes and people will be like "dude, buy a Xbox 360, this is garbage." To me, they're both beautiful games, they're both cool, and they don't look or feel old. That's retro gaming.

Yes, becasue an afterlife spent at a carnival is so much more insane than a giant space city full of of golden streets, mansions, angels, and Jesus.

Traditional organized religions are stupid but following them atleast makes some kind of sense because "it's a tradition" and "every one else does it"
But basing a religion after a white rap group that dresses up like clowns and makes NWA look like intellectuals even when they aren't wearing those masks.... .
If you mixed up the portable CDi with Virtual Boy, Jaguar CD, Spectrum tape drive and 32X and gave it a controller that's a mix up between Intellivision, 5200 and CDi controllers to create the ultimate horribad console, it still would make more sense than that
