I bought a game from EA. Should I feel guilty???

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Ah yes, this is why I included the 'rarely ever'. You may also wish to read this, this and probably this too.

I have to admit, I hate EA. Hate its monopolizing ways, the never-ending series, the horrible movie tie-ins and overall its need of money. No, I'm not idealistic or naive in any way, I know every company out there looks at games as a business, but EA is different, they want money so bad that, just as an example, if they have to tone down the violence in a game for it to receive a lower rating and thus sell more, that's what they'll do, despite the creator's original idea for the game or its artistic integrity.

Still, if there's anything I never did and will never do is restrain myself from enjoying a game just because of its publisher. If don't care who made it, if I like it I play it. Nevertheless I find myself rarely playing a game by EA because, as Racket says, they're hard to find...

As much as I hate EA, I have to admit that their NCAA Football series is good. Even when Sega/2K had their series EA's was much better. I buy 2K for all other sports games and I REFUSE to buy Madden. NFL 2K was great and Madden has always been subpar compared to 2K and it's a shame that EA had to take the easy way out and buy exclusive rights to NFL games. Until EA lets go of the rights to the NFL, I'm not buying a NFL game.

Not really the sort of thing to lose sleep over, is it?

I don't play sports titles, so I avoid all that. However, the original restrictions announced for Spore and Mass Effect on PC bothered me. Why? To prevent piracy, they hindered the player. NEVER treat your players all like criminals, or they will not want to remain players of your games.

Also, I played Battlefield 2142, and EA's server seemed to have a fetish for kicking players at random times for nothing, and almost always right before the end of the match. After screaming at them for a week straight in which I could never finish a match because the server would continuously punt me even though I had a perfectly legit copy of the game and was doing nothing against server rules or anything else, I said fuck it and decided to generally avoid their games. I won't not play titles that they're attached to, but it does make me hesitate when I hear they created a title.

I also had a friend get in a battle with their customer support. Not exactly fans of them...

There is only one sports game you truly need.

TECMO SUPER BOWL.
