I bought a game from EA. Should I feel guilty???

I bought a game from EA. Should I feel guilty???

Post by peace4myheart »

Just bought my second game for my newly acquired PS3. Didn't realized Half-Life 2 was published by EA until I inspect the box more carefully. I hate EA for it's monopolizing ways, though I don't really care much for football. Just thought it was bad for business, especially for the business I enjoy a lot. Anyway, HL2 is amazing, much better than MGS4 and I am an avid fan of MGS series. Bought the PS3 specifically for it too. Now I should feel a little guilty for buying a game from EA, for betraying myself and my beliefs. I told myself I wouldn't buy anything from it. I don't want to make it more powerful than it already is. But right now, I don't feel guilty at all. I am loving HL2 so much. It is one of the best game I have played so far this year. Yeah, I am a bit late to the party okay. Can't help it. Didn't have a PS3. What is there not to love. Graphics is awesome. Gameplay is awesome. Story is awesome. So many games for only 30 bucks. Screw EA but thanx a lot for publishing an awesome game. :P

Isn't HL2 just published by EA. They don't own Valve. Anyway HL2 is an awesome game so your sin is forgiven.

EDIT: Just realized you said that in the first post.

EA is getting better and learning from their mistakes a bit. I used to not touch a single product with their name attached, but I bought HL2 and Simpsons Game. I'll probably pick up Skate sometime soon as well.

So much for fighting the good fight. :?

How disheartening.

I have never properly understood the hatred towards EA. Obviously they use plenty of licensed material, but why do we hate them for this? The majority of their games are generally quality titles and if sports enthusiasts wish to buy new iterations of their favourite sports title each year then who are we to criticize EA for providing in this area?

It doesn't surprise me that in a thread criticizing EA, EA Partners haven't even been taken into consideration(which is unbelievably hipocritical). EA Partners have consolidated many developers under the one roof, providing cushy publisher support to many developers like Valve, Harmonix and Id as well as including piles of smaller developers. This has gone lengths to relieve pains for many companies and employees as the game developerment becomes increasingly costly. Oh and BTW all of the partners have said positive things about the company, most recently John Carmack whom held high praise for their shift towards collaborative innovation.

I could write pages about this..just read the news people, EA have rarely ever been this evil corperation that some people take them for.

My friend and I usually don't buy EA only because we don't like their games. That's all...

I like their games back in the late 80's and early 90's. Then their games started to suck. Oh and I certainly wouldn't want to be on their programming or art team, bleh.

If the game is good, I don't see the problem.
The trick is good games from EA are getting harder to find....
I've rented a few of theirs, but can't think of the last one I've bought.

Anyone here interested in Dead Space? That's probably another EA title I'll pick up when it's out.

The EA spouse has a lot to do with EA being villified as a company.
