I'm not saying it takes away from the original. But I am curious why you would call the cheaper version with all the extras the "fake" version?outlaw_moon wrote: I am with you on the extras, but that depends on how much you care for them. Just because a game gets a re-release with extras and HD graphics doesn't take away from the original in my book.

By that I mean no physical copy. I might not have worded it properly but just my take I guess.noiseredux wrote:outlaw_moon wrote: But I am curious why you would call the cheaper version with all the extras the "fake" version?
It's time to kick a$$ and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of gum.

Re: Nights HD announced
I've said it before but I'm at the point where I don't care too much about physical releases. I simply go for the cheapest and/or most convenient option, about half the titles I purchase on PC are still physical, but I see that only lasting a few more years at best.
I'm really glad Sega has been putting more titles on the PC as of late. I'd attribute it somewhat to the success of Sonic Generations on PC but that may just be coincidence.
I'd really like to see them upgrade many of their 32bit titles. I love Saturn games but 3D of that era is just painful to look at (3D accelerated PC titles not withstanding). Frankly Jet Grind Radio is one of the few titles that I feel really didn't need an upgrade to HD, due to the heavily stylized graphics that have aged pretty flawlessly. From the screenshots it doesn't appear they've even upped the texture resolution for it.

NiGHTS was the only thing that made me regret selling my Saturn... and now it's not gonna be a problem anymore. I'm especially excited that Sega decided to make a PC version of this re-release!

I know that I am pretty excited about this. And one of my good friends will be too. It's her favorite game. Got her a Saturn a year ago so she could play it again.

I played the PS2 version of nights with the higher resolution graphics, and while it looked pretty good, the controls just didn't feel right. I went back to the saturn version. Interested to see how this game "feels" compared to the original.
This guy sums it up pretty well:

One of the things I noticed early on while playing, was that the physics and the controls are different from that of the Saturn. Granted, things work basically the way they did before, but the problem is that if you're used to the way the Saturn version played, the PS2 version is so easy that its hard. I know that sounds weird, but its true. Someone completely new to NiD probably wouldn't have a problem with this, but the veteran players will need time to adjust.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

I guess it is a good thing that I haven't played Nights in a while, except the Wii version, so I'm no longer used to the way the Saturn version plays.skate323k137 wrote:This guy sums it up pretty well:

I am looking forward to this HD release.

I'm super-excited. I've been a member of the NiGHTS forums for a while and know the webmasters have been pushing for this for a while... and at least one of them is working on this port! Pretty cool!
I'm really glad this will have leaderboards. There's a small community of score-based NiGHTS players, but a leaderboard will really help make things go smoothly.

I actually like to have both. I love the convenience of having these games on my PS3 which is on most of the day thanks to netflix, hulu, blu-ray, video files, etc.s1mplehumar wrote:No. I totally get you. In all honesty, I have not bought a single DLC ever. I came very close with Radiant Silvergun but thankfully got me the original and didn't get the fake digital copy.
Call me old fashion
Having them look decent on my Plasma without investing in a bunch of up-scaling is great too.
But, if I can afford it (not the case yet with Radiant Silvergun), I like to own the original hard copy too. I might not play it often, but I like to have the option to play the original and to see it on my shelf. But I will play the game much more often as a downloadable.

Cool.
I have the US version of NiGHTS on the Saturn, the JP version, Christmas NiGHTS JP version and the PS2 remake. No need for this, but I am happy that Sega is putting this out.
