Personally I like the control scheme, but I'll admit I can understand where others are coming from when they complain about it. That said, I don't really care if the combat engine is deep or not. Look at Diablo's combat engine, if it can even be called that, yet it's still a lot of fun.
I pretty much look at any degree of combat depth in Too Human as an added bonus, but it just so happens that I personally do find a lot of depth there (from my initial impression) and it's easy to use.
Also, consider the recent (to my knowledge) trend of using the second analog stick in shooters instead of the classical control scheme. I think most people agree that it works and I see Too Human's combat as similar, with the obvious difference being the emphasis on melee. As far as ranged combat goes, we've got the ability to essentially "scroll over" multiple target areas and that makes things much easier.
The one thing that does disappoint me about Too Human is that apparently there is no local co-op. I would be even more excited if it had that.
Thoughts on Too Human?

See the melee part seems to be where I take issue. The shooting worked well enough, but the two stick scheme just felt weird for melee. See I mentioned Mavel Ultimate Alliance before because it's sort of like Diablo. You play with an overhead camera, kill lots of enemies, collect items and level up. But MUA had a few different combos, super powers, grab attacks and weapons you could use. Kind of like a beat'em up. Each character had unique moves too. Compared to that, Too Human's combat felt too simplistic to me. It's hard not to compare it to what else is on the market, and maybe I'd be more excited by it if I hadn't play MUA.General Chaos wrote:Personally I like the control scheme, but I'll admit I can understand where others are coming from when they complain about it. We'll see how it turns out. It's hard for me to really criticize something that isn't even really out yet.
