Do they get much better in the later GG games?
I haven't played any of them too deeply, but I have played all of them some. The sprites/backgrounds/effects are amazing, but Im not a huge fan of those games. I don't really know what it is, but something about the characters/story doesn't appeal to me. Same with JoJo's.

Anyways, the games haven't changed enormously over the sequels, besides the DS version... which I thought was wack.

The later Neo-Geo games had excellent sprites which were very crisp looking and colorful. Mark Of The Wolves is one of the best looking fighters on that system and is my all time favorite Fighting(Vs) game.

Last Blade 1, 2 and Waku Waku 7 also looked great and had the same style as Mark Of The Wolves.

I like the way the older sprites looked sf2, king of fighters 96, Fighters History Dynamite. They all have a nostalgic feel to them 8)

Since I'm currently playing Symphony of the Night, yes Alucard rocks. Everything he does in the game just looks so damn cool.

I'm looking more at the artistic side of this rather than technical things like resolution, size etc. I always loved the character designs in Darkstalkers, particularly B.B. Hood. I like Zero from the Mega Man X series(not the retarded redesign he got in his own series). Of course, he started looking shitty from Mega Man X 7 onwards, but by that point, everything in the series was shitty.

Oh, and Sengoku 3 on the Neo Geo has some great looking characters

Last but not least, Strider Hiryu looked badass in Strider 2(I'm talking about the arcade versin which was ported to the PS1). It was very close to what they used for his sprite in Marvel vs. Capcom

And has nobody mentioned a Treasure game yet or did I just miss it?
