Solo bang is the man, his "Change" shot is nice, but that wide vulcan is where its at. Especially if you take Napalm or Missles instead of Homing.

Somehow, I got a bomb right after you fight the main villain the first time (near the beginning of stage 1).
I got an extra bomb in the same spot you did, but that was another time I played it, not this one.

I'll get the real name of that guy, but it's just some kinda Japanese trope that you have the Elvis rock n roller character in a shmup of some sort

This game is tougher than I thought. Stage 2 in particular. I thought stage 3 was pretty easy w/all the weapon upgrades but i'm struggling to get through stage 2 w/o losing at least 2 guys. Nice to see the score picks up each level and I like being rewarded for saving up bombs.

A nice improvement - but still aways away from you guys:

502,080 - mjmjr25 - Stage 3 (boss) - Type A - SAT-J

(Hi-Score screen goes away way too fast, didn't realize that - i'll have the camera ready when I improve tomorrow :) )

Nice score MJ. Remember I started out at 500K too.

The Solo-Bang Type C character is named Dietza, btw. Still like referring to his Dimahoo incarnation, however. Good times with that game too!

Finally, the connection between this and other "familiar" shmups comes down to one Lee Ota who was the producer for this game; he worked on Truxton and Truxton II!

Finally, on the top of a leaderboard (until...tomorrow?) No bombed first 3 stages and had an excellent 3rd stage, not sure, but I felt like I got every possible point, I was zoning.

932,680 - mjmjr25 - Stage 4 (boss) - SAT-J

Nice one dude! I'll chase this in a bit here.

Are you playing this in 16:9?

I presume it's ok to bump this thread...

This is one I 1cc'd recently. Tip: use the player 2 ship, it makes the game slightly easier...

SAT-J has TATE, I don't think the TL2 PS2-US version does, perhaps the JP region of TL2 might, not sure on that.

Yeah, the jp release of TL2 does have TATE options, but I think its split into 4 volumes.

Also, very nice on the 1CC Doc!

Thanks! The western record is a bit higher than that, close to 1.7m I think. There are no miss/no bomb runs on YouTube by Smraedis and DJ Incompetent, both over 1.6m.

The Japanese record is something like 2.4m, though, so it's a bit mysterious where all those extra points come from. I'd like to see a video of that...
