I really liked RE Gaiden on GBC.

^shit's awesome.

What (I think) makes it such a great game is that they took the concept of an RE game and really made it work to the strenths of the hardware. Meaning, they didn't try to make it a legit RE experience on GBC (like the planned and abborted GBC port of RE1 was going to be). Instead, you've got an overhead map view (not too different in execution from Sweet Home... hmm?) which looks like RE on NES. Nice. Then you've got the combat -- which could have been pretty clunky and difficult -- but they implemented a system in which you'd have battles seperate from the overworld map where you had to use a sliding guage to aim (kind of like the guage at the bottom of most golf games, y'know?) Add to this the fact that the game is pretty damn short, making it an appropriate handheld experience. Totally awesome game.

There's a port of Resident Evil (PS1) on the DS. It has some DS specific puzzles and features (but you can opt out of these and play the game on "Classic" mode if desired.) The "Rebirth" mode (I think that's what it's called), has some newer features added on like holding the L button to bring out your knife (RE 4) and a 180 degree turn (RE 3).

I liked the port; although it is still best played on a console.
It also has a multiplayer mode but I (sadly) never got to try that out.

...and Silent Hill Shattered Memories on PSP is a pretty good port. I recommend it if you don't own a Wii.

I came into this Thread looking for handhelds that survived falls and drops.

I was thinking of the Gameboy that still worked after getting damaged in the Gulf War.

I recently went up to New York and got to get a close look at that. It's amazing how it still "works".

This is in a museum now? Nice. I have the issue of Nintendo Power where the serviceman that this happened to sent it to Nintendo with a letter explaining the situation.

Some how I doubt that any modern fancy handheld could withstand that kind of damage. It's kinda like Nokia 1100 :)
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Actually its in the Nintendo Store located in NYC. They have a huge display case showing like every Nintendo product ever, from power gloves to virtual boys to basically everything in between.

Yeah, R.E. Gaiden is legit; IMO, it's one of the few handheld ports that worked. MGS on GBC was well done, also.
