Handheld Survival Horror
I was just wondering if anyone on this forum knows of any decent survival horrors on Handheld devices. I thought they wouldn't work on handhelds but dementium recently proved me wrong by being pretty nerve shredding at times, especially in a dark room with headphones in. Any suggestions would be helpfull!

I understand the new Resident Evil does a lot of hand holding.
To answer your question though, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (PSP) is pretty good. I only played the PS2 version though:

I played the revelations demo, and it felt more like an action game with bad controls than a survival horror. The only bit that scared me was when you hear the first zombie coming out of the cupboard.

Re: Handheld Survival Horror
Well, there's Silent Hill origins for the PSP. It replicates the hellish otherworld environments from the first game fairly well (atleast when you compare it to Shattered Memories/Homecoming/Downpour). Naturally it's not really athmosphere/storyline wise a proper Silent Hill game, but I think it's the best out of the bunch (the Western games).
Obscure the aftermath was pretty bad in my opinnion, but there's a PSP port of it.
Besides that there's Silent Hill Shattered Memories. Some people also list Manhunt 2 as a horror game. Those 4 games are the only horror games for the PSP that I know of
I think it's worth mentioning that you can download Silent Hill and Resident Evil 1-3 from PSN.

On topic, The only that comes to mind besides Silent Hill is Resident Evil Gaiden via GBC, but I'm not sure if it's actually "survival horror" or not.

I've heard that Resident Evil Gaiden for Game Boy Color is pretty good. I haven't personally played it, but the screenshots look damn impressive for a Game Boy Color game.
And while it's not "Survival" Horror, the Castlevania games are usually fantastic on handhelds and have a horror-theme to them.

So much better on the wii! It really untilizes the controlls well and using the wii-mote as a flashlight is fantasticJ T wrote:I understand the new Resident Evil does a lot of hand holding.

Re: Handheld Survival Horror
Virtual Boy is hardly a handheld, and the only horror game on the system is a really expensive, hard to find and rare Japanese game
